This off-season, Miami Southridge varsity football team -- landed perhaps the missing piece on their team -- with the arrival of Miami Sunset sophomore quarterback Michael Cox Jr. The 6-foot-2, 175 - pounder football resume speaks volumes, despite having two years of eligibility remaining. The rising sophomore arrived to a football program (Miami Sunset) that has yet, to win a playoff game in school history.
The gunslinger from Skovde, Sweden (birthplace) -- engineered three come back victories versus Mater Academy Charter, West Broward and Ronald Reagan. Speaking of comeback victories. Michael, engineered two comeback victories recently in Davenport, FL -- participating in the Pylon 7on7 Tournament. His team (Fire South) went (7-0) and captured the championship. His efforts earned him the Co-MVP along with Todd Centenio.
Back to the gridiron -- the record-setter broke the Knights' passing touchdown record and helped turn around a (2-8) program the previous season -- into a (10-2) playoffs contender and not to mention, win their first district title in over a decade.
He ranked Top 5 in Miami-Dade County -- highest classification in passing yards along with a (27-6) touchdown - Interception ratio. He also displayed escape ability -- rushing for (213) yards and (3) rushing touchdowns.
Last year, around this time -- Michael was surrounded without a single football player on his team with a football offer. As of today, he's surrounded around D1-FBS talent.
His accuracy is 2nd to none. And when factoring wide receivers: Rodney Scott, Daquris Wiggins, Kemore Gamble and Mark Pope who all has over (50) scholarships combined -- expect big numbers from Michael Cox Jr. this upcoming fall. He also plans to major in International Business come college.
