Top performers from Palm Beach Fire Open Run

By Jerry Williamson

On Saturday at noon, approximately 141 players took the field in Palm Beach County, consisting of a mixture of Broward and out of area hidden talent. Below are the top performers.  Middle School Division Top Performers

Defensive MVP - Clifton Brown (CB)

Note: Just an eighth grader, Brown has solid size. He combines his lean frame with incredible agility. His technique at the position was far better than most upperclassmen. Brown has a ton of potential and could make a splash this season on someone varsity team. The most difficult routes underneath to cover he was on just about every receiver hip and won 90% of his battles.

Offensive MVP - Tyler Aronson (QB)

Note: He looks like a sophomore. At 6-2, 175 pounds, the eighth grader shows great anticipation, accuracy, and the ability to scan quickly while going through his progression. He has a big boy arm and was clearly, one of the top five overall gunsligers at the Open Run. Aronson has won three consecutive national championships. Now that's a winner.

Palm Beach Fire Open Run Top 10 Performers

10. RB Antonio Outler, Palm Beach Lakes

Note: The down hill running back who holds a notable offer from Auburn University, exploded out of his breaks for someone 5'10, 190 pounds that normally runs through his defenders. Outler ability to get open underneath turn heads when you notice his size up close.

9. DB Geoffrey McKelton, Pahokee

Note: The things that stand out the most about Mckelton are his awareness and instincts. He does an excellent job of reading the offense and getting himself in position to make plays. Mckelton is instinctive in his route diagnosis, aware of what the offense is trying to do, and reacts quickly. With his instincts getting him in position, Mckelton shows good ball skills to break up passes or pick them off.

8. QB Keyone Jenkins, Miami Carol City

Note: Its easy to see why Jenkins is one of the best freshman in the state of Florida. He knows how to find the open wide receivers Looks like a future highly-ranked prospect.

7. ATH Corey Reddick, Palm Beach Central

Note: Reddick hauled in several touchdowns and on defensive side of the ball, he displayed instincts, awareness and the speed to run with a plethora of talented wide receivers.

6. WR Marcus Williams, Jr., Chaminade Madonna

Note: Williams, Jr. was one of the most consistent when creating separation underneath. His sneaky burst after the catch, turning short receptions into big gains stood out. The class 3A state champion has a bright future.

5. QB Santino Marucci, The Benjamin School

Note: The top-ranked quarterback in attendance on Saturday. There wasn't a more dynamic passer than Marucci. He threw targets open with anticipation and pinpoint accuracy, the dual-threat made things look easy regardless of the pouring rain. He had consistent velocity on the football, but also knew when to take something off of it and change speeds on occasion.

4. Defensive MVP: DB Jacob Camacho, Glades Central

Note: Camacho is flying under the radar. Only a hand full of defenders confidently challenge the shifty and bigger wide receivers at the line as much as he did on Saturday. Camacho, a long and rangy playmaker maintain cushion against those who challenge him vertically. Few footballs were targeted his way but he made the most of the opportunities with a couple of pass breakups. Camacho is a 4-year varsity starter who 16 career interceptions have gone unnoticed.

3. Co-offensive MVP: WR Xaiver Bolden, Plantation High School

Note: Bolden is a smoove route runner as there was at the Open Run, showing his quickness as he caught passes running digs and comeback routes leaving defensive backs on skates. The Plantation rising star is going to make some noise this off-season. He's the next man up.

2. Co-offensive MVP: WR Brandon Scheabert, Seminole Ridge

Note: Scheabert has the build to play college football. The chisel wide receiver listed at 6'2, 195 pounds showed reliable hands the entire event and went deep a few times displaying his 4.57 electronically-timed speed. His quickness made it hard to cover him on intermediate routes as he caught passes in traffic with ease and never breaking his concentration. His athleticism isn't far fetched. He ranks as the No. 3 wide receiver in the country, with a jaw-dropping 101.95 sparq rating.

1. ALPHA DOG: DB Marquis Lymon, Atlantic High School (Delray Beach, FL)

Note: Lymon holds 5 D-1 FBS offers and an expect his list to expand this off-season. The Atlantic High School two-year varsity starter is lockdown and has that Ed Reed's ability to track the ball-playing center field. Lymon, at 5-10, 180 pounds, coverage skills were on display all day at corner covering bigger receivers as well as smaller shifty receivers in the slot. He was lockdown in coverage. His cover skills are severely underrated at this point, but he will make quarterbacks pay all 7on7 season long. Get ready to hear this guys name for years to come.
