The Lions' Den: Champagnat Catholic 19' OLB/DE Mikel Jones (6-2, 210)

The small school located in Hialeah, FL --- continues to produced big time prospects. The 2A program has sent several student-athletes division one over the years. Accolades such as All-Americans, Mr. Football, All-State and All-County selections.

Next in-line -- is freshman outside linebacker and defensive end Mikel Jones. His maturity and leadership, is beyond his age. Which is why he was selected as one of the team leaders, awarded by his coaches. Inside of the classroom, he sports a 3.5 weighted grade-point-average.

Jones was named to the prestigious Rising Stars All-South Florida Freshman Team and named (Dade & Broward) 5A to Independent classification: Defensive Player of the Year. The lions' rising star was also named 2nd Team All-Dade County.

Last fall, he recorded three games with ten plus tackles, finishing the season with (78) tackles. He made it clear to opposing teams, that he plays with a motor and can reach the quarterback. The edge rusher was responsible for (12) sacks, (3) forced fumbles and (4) fumble recoveries.

Based on his academic success and his football resume -- Division one programs: Temple and Southern wasted no time extending a verbal offer to the well-rounded freshman.

Mikel Anthony Jones projects as a outside linebacker at the next level. He stands 6-foot-2, 210-pounds and already lifts with the seniors. His max results inside of the weight room is: (250) bench press, (355) squat, (31) vertical jump and runs a hand-timed 4.7 40-yard dash.

His defensive line coach Chuck Brown founder of trench setter (Defensive Line camp) spoke highly about Mikel Jones. He's always ready to work. No matter the day or time and he's a natural born leader.

Mikel is the youngest lion -- of eight total student-athletes with Division one offers on his roster. Expect for kid to blow up this spring with college football offers. He has FBS measurable, testing and grades.
