Champagnat Catholic Dynamic Duo land Alabama and Clemson offers


Hialeah, FLA. -- Champagnat Catholic underclassmen defensive ends/linebackers Jesus Machado (Class of 2020) and Mikel Jones (Class of 2019) is making national headlines for the small 2A program located in Hialeah, FL -- that's a major challenge for most college football coaches just to find. The school is about 6,000 square feet. Just a little bigger than the end zone in a football field.

On May, 19, 2016 -- both Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers coaches found the tiny school and extended offers. The Lions 2nd year head coach Dennis Marroquin was visited by first Alabama assistant coach Mario Cristobal who offered (2nd Champagnat athlete with an offer, Donovan Georges) the Lions future phenom: 8th grade Linebacker/Defensive end Jesus Machado (6-1, 185), who started every game on varsity this past season and was selected 3rd team All-Dade County and recorded over 10 - sacks.

30 - minutes later after Mario Cristobal leaves -- in comes Clemson Defensive Coordinator Bret Venables who would then offer the Lions 2nd Team All-Dade County, Rising Stars All-South Florida Freshman Team selection and 5A-2A underclassmen Defensive Player of the Year: 9th grade Linebacker/Defensive end Mikel Jones (6-1, 210). The rising freshman also sports a eye-popping 3.5 weighted Grade-Point-Average.

The lions young stars -- Jesus Machado and Mikel Jones game and knowledge has been highly influenced by 23 - year old defensive line coach Chuck Brown. The lions varsity football roster, holds a slim 30 - overall student-athletes, but, here's a note, over 10 - student-athletes hold both FCS and FBS college football verball offers.

Champagnat Catholic has history with high school All-Americans as well, their recent student-athlete was LSU, Travonte Valentine. There's a great possibility, both Mikel Jones and Jesus Machado could join that prestigious list the next few years.

Coach Marroquin informed me approximately fifty college football programs has visited the tiny school located in Hialeah, FL. Newly defensive coordinator Danny Clavijo is excited about working with both Jesus Machado & Mikel Jones this upcoming season.
