Rising Star: Miami Palmetto 18' RB Trey Flowers (5'9", 210)


PINE CREST, FLA. -- The Panthers head football coach Mike Manesco is entering his second-year at the helm and knows two things about his team thus far this spring. One, they're extremely young and two, Westminster Christian transfer running back Trey Flowers is a emerging star, who's gaining confidence each game.

The 5-foot-9, 210-pound sophomore running back is taking full advantage of his new home and dominating inside of the classroom, weight room and on the gridiron. This off-season, Flowers, has rushed for well over a 100 - yards in consecutive games and has found the end zone seven times. Inside of the classroom -- Flowers is a honors student and this upcoming fall, he'll be taking college courses. Here's a note, Flowers sports a 3.9 weighted GPA.

Now, that's the true definition of a student-athlete. Flowers, isn't receiving any college football interest at the moment, but academically, three Universities: Baylor, Liberty and Stetson has already contacted him as a student. College football coaches will eventually show interest to the emerging sophomore. Grades for sure will not be an issue with this young man. Inside of the weight room.

He's already a head of his time strength wise. The soon-to-be junior is a 1,000 - pound club stand out as a sophomore. His Bench 280, Squat 505, Power Clean 285 which equals 1,070 - pounds. This spring, Flowers has found the end zone seven times within two games and rushed for well over a hundred yards in both games. Flowers powered his way for five rushing touchdowns vs. Hialeah.

The Panthers spring football game vs. Varela, Flowers scored on runs of 25 and 70 yards, putting the game away early. His bloodlines are Arkansas CB Cornelius Floyd and Indiana DB Jameel Cook. Keep an eye on the low gravity running back this upcoming fall.
