Miami Edison rising junior cornerback Jamauri "Bam" Laguerre (6'0", 177) is a little-known prospect from South Florida, but his name is starting to breeze in at the next level -- after collecting five divison one offers this off-season. This off-season -- Laguerre has quietly added offers from: Idaho, UAB, Central Michigan, Tennessee State and Southern after an unsung junior season.
His team finished the season (6-4), but Laguerre production at cornerback was impressive. The long and rangy cornerback was targeted ten times last season and amazingly allowed one reception.
Below is a breakdown of all the notable wide receivers he challenged last fall:
Miami Booker T. Washington - Raymond Flanders (Marshall commit): Targeted 3-times/ 1-catch
Miami Palmetto - Ivan Thomas (4-D1 FBS offers): Targeted twice/No reception
Miami Booker T. Washington - DeAndre Williams (3-D1 FBS offers): Targeted 3-times/No reception
Keys Gate Charter - Angelo Gonzalez (8 - D1-FBS): Targeted once/No reception
This off-season, Laguerre attended Sound Mind Sound Body Football Academy Camp and stole the show. His play was so impressive -- College football programs: Central Michigan and Tennessee State, offered the emerging star on the spot. Laguerre also turned heads at Football University (FBU) Regional Combine, where he was named Top Defensive back.
Here's a young man that stands a legit 6-feet tall -- that's jumping out the gym with a 39.0 vertical jump according to Miami Nike Sparq Combine. Laguerre is set for the next level. He's a college qualifier. The tall and rangy cornerback sports a 3.1 weighted GPA and scored a 19 on his ACT.
