South Florida's Most Versatile Underclassmen: Coral Gables 18' ATH Johnny Ford

Coral Gables, FLA. -- The Cavaliers' rising star, Johnny Ford, took South Florida high school football by storm last fall, as one of the most electrifying playmakers. Ford, returns kicks, lines up at wide receiver, takes snaps as a Wildcat quarterback and could probably kick a field goal if asked to do so. Ford terrorized opposing teams' special teams last fall.

The 5-foot-7, 170 speedster with cat-like quickness, finished #1 in South Florida in special teams scoring: (3) kick returns and (2) punt returns for touchdowns. Tallying a remarkable, (5) special touchdowns on the season. Ford's versatility makes him the ultimate Swiss Army knife for the Cavaliers. Despite, playing behind 4-Star and Semper Fidelis All-American' running back Amir Rasul. Ford managed to rush for 574 yards with a 9.7 yards-per-carry average, along with (3) rushing touchdowns. At slot receiver, he displayed trustworthy hands, by pulling in (5) receiving touchdowns and accumulating over (150) yards receiving.

The speedster, nearly reached 1,000 all-purpose yards last fall, which is amazing considering his limited touches. He wasn't afraid of the end zone as well, scoring (12) all-purpose touchdowns. This off-season, Ford is now the center of attention on offense, as fall approaches. In his first start vs. Norland (Spring Game), Ford carried the ball ten times for 189 yards and one touchdown (one called back). Ford speed and change of direction at slot receiver, helped the Cavaliers' 7-on-7 football team -- captured (Uni. of Miami) Mark Richt's 7-on-7 Tournament championship (Pictured above).

Ford scored eight touchdowns within four games. Speaking of speed, Ford recently earned Florida International University' football camp fastest man award and clocked a 4.4/40-Yard. Inside of the classroom, Ford sports a 2.9 weighted GPA. Two in-state programs (FIU & FAU) have already offered the rising star. College football coaches will love this young man. He has grades, extremely fast, excels with yards-after-catch and he's versatile.
