Impact Freshmen: Belen Jesuit Preparatory (FL) 20' RB Don Chaney Jr.

Don Chaney Jr. is on pace to become the most highly sought after recruit of all-time at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School history. The future phenom has been starting high school football since the seventh grade. Here's a note. The Wolverines' ninth-grader, received four Football Bowl Subdivision verbal offers as an eight-grader. From the likes of University of Miami, Boston College, Syracuse and FAU.

Chaney Jr., is one of those prospects professional scouts describe as a "Freak of Nature". Just ask the University of Miami coaching staff. This off-season, Chaney Jr. attended the University of Miami Football Camp and measured in at 5-foot-10 3/4 and 174 pounds.

The eight-grader dominated the football camp 1-on-1's session and after his measuring and testing results were factor into his production -- the hometown Canes made an unanimous decision offering the local product. Chaney's testing results consisted of a 9-9 broad jump, 40 inch vertical jump and a hand-timed 4.49 40-Yard Dash.

The 14-year-old is the fastest sprinter on his school's track and field team — he ran 100 meters in 11.17 seconds. His best long jump was 21-feet-6 inches (District Champion) and his high jump was 6-feet-4 inches (5th place in District) Chaney Jr. earned the highest prestigious honors in South Florida at the youth football ranks by being named to Generation Nexxt' Class of 2020 First Team All-South Florida.

The same prestigious honors newly 4-Stars running backs: Nayquan Wright (Miami Carol City) and James Cook (Miami Central) was named to the previous year. Chaney Jr. spring football game consisted of 9 carries for 104 rushing yards and one touchdown versus the International School of Broward. The eight-grader started six varsity games last fall. His first varsity carry went for a 43 yard touchdown vs. Braddock.

Inside of the weight room, he can squat 415 - pounds, Power Clean 235 - pounds and Bench 230 - pounds. Those are astounding numbers for an incoming ninth-grader. A total of 880 pounds of pure strength and power. Inside of the classroom, he sports a 3.2 weighted GPA, which speak volumes considering Belen Jesuit Preparatory is one of he top nationally recognized academic schools in the country.

Did you know? Chaney, is also a gifted gospel rapper and has the versatility to play several positions such as defensive back, linebacker or receiver. Well, there's a possibility this 5-foot-10 3/4, 174-pound speedster, could grow to be 6-foot-3, 200-pounds, all said and done and I'll explain why.

His father Don Chaney played wide receiver during the early 90's for the South Carolina Gamecocks standing 6-foot-7, 238-pounds at Wide Receiver. Could South Carolina be next in-line to offer the future phenom? Time will tell.

Jerry Williamson thoughts on Don Chaney Jr.:

"Chaney will enter fall playing his third consecutive season on the high school ranks. There's no way he doesn't finish Top 15 in rushing yards in South Florida operating out of a Wing-T offense. He's going to be a nationally recognized recruit and a household name. All-American material."
