So. Florida's Impact Freshman: Doral Academy Charter (FL) 20' RB Shemar Paul
This off-season Doral Academy Charter football program upgraded their offense with notable transfers: 4-Star WR Breion Fuller and Miami-Dade County's leading rusher Javier Zuniga. The firebirds' offense also made a splash at the youth football ranks by adding an incoming ninth-grader who possesses one cut acceleration and game-changing speed with the addition of Pop Warner Division 1 National Champion -- Gwen Cherry Bulls (Jr. Midgets) speedy all-purpose running back Shemar Paul.
BREAK-A-WAY SPEED
The 5-foot-9, 160 pound versatile athlete possess breakaway speed. His fastest 100 meters time was 11.33 seconds and here's a note, the 14-year-old is already making noise on campus. Paul is without question the fastest football player on varsity roster which speak volumes of his upside and considering the roster doesn't consist of the average joe. We're talking about nationally ranked, County's leaders and All-County selections. Paul accumulated 15 touchdowns from 30+ yards as a eight-grader supporting his breakaway speed.
Did you know? Paul recorded an electronically timed 4.88 40-Yard Dash at the Generation Nexxt Skills Challenge last summer, at The Chamber heading into his eight-grade season. Paul will bring a winning attitude to the Firebirds football program. His youth football record the past three seasons playing in a competitive league consisted of 43 wins and 3 loses, including two Pop Warner Division One National Championships.

Paul athleticism and production has featured him in notable youth All-Star events in the Southeastern Region such as: Future Stars Game: Florida vs. Georgia & Miami Dolphins' Dade vs. Broward All-Stars. This off-season, Paul, was named a Generation Nexxt All-South Florida 1st Team selection at running back. The list included eight-graders with Division One Subdivision verbal offers such as Gulliver Prep RB Amin Hassan, Southwest Miami Andre Stringfield and Belen Jesuit Preparatory RB Don Chaney Jr. just to give you an idea of the rich talent pool.
Paul will earn a D1 offer before the start of his 10th grade season especially how well he performed the first day of practice on varsity in full gear. The talented ninth-grader raced for two touchdowns from the distance of 8 and 45 yards. He's going start at running back and return kicks for the Firebirds according to offensive coordinator Corey Smith.
Shemar Paul posed for the camera after his 65 yard touchdown run vs. Far West Jets in the Pop Warner Div. 1 National Championship game on ESPN.
People may not realize just how much upside the talented and speedy running back Shemar Paul is on the other side of the ball. As a 7th grader, he was named Future Stars Miami Tryouts defensive MVP at cornerback. Here's a note, he never played the position until the tryouts. I have also observed him in 7-on-7 tournaments and combines lining up at cornerback and he reminds me of Christopher Columbus senior 4-star ATHLETE C.J. Henderson (University of Miami commit).
All said and done, don't be surprised if he's named a 4-star as an ATH if the Firebirds allow him to play some cornerback down the line.
Jerry Williamson thoughts on Shemar Paul at the NEXT LEVEL:
"I predict Paul will record over 500 all-purpose yards and score at least 5 touchdowns. as a freshman. Realistically, I believe Paul should at least make a strong push for Honorable mention or 3rd team All-Dade County. Paul is arguably the top incoming ninth-grader prospect in Miami-Dade County at the 7A Classification."
