South Florida's Impact Freshman: Miami Booker T. Washington ATH Jovan Ferguson


Overtown, FLA. -- The four-peat 4A state champions -- Miami Booker T. Washington continues to grab the attention of South Florida's elite incoming freshman year in, year out. The Tornadoes landed arguably the most electrifying incoming ninth-grader with the ball in his hands -- by adding [Gwen Cherry Bulls Jr. Midgets] speedy dual-threat quarterback Jovan Ferguson -- who stands 5-foot-10, 150 pounds and runs in the neighborhood of a 4.5 - 4.6, 40-Yard Dash (hand-timed) according to Miami Booker T. Washington football staff.

The Tornadoes is certainly adding on to their tradition by adding a proven "winner" to their varsity roster this fall. Ferguson wrapped up a remarkable youth football career. He captured two Pop Warner Division 1 National Championships, and his win-loss record as a starter is a jaw-dropping 84-wins and 5-loses. Ferguson sports a 3.66 weighted GPA and was named a Miami Pop Warner Little Scholar. He's the idea student-athlete for head coach Tim "Ice" Harris as he returns the helm.

Ferguson was named Generation Nexxt's Pre-Season #1 "utility athlete" and Top 25 overall prospect in South Florida for the class of 2020. Did you know? Ferguson clocked an electronically timed 4.96/40-Yard Dash during the summer as a seventh grader. Ferguson led all South Florida [eight-graders] quarterbacks in all-purpose touchdowns -- by finding the end zone an incredible 34 times. He rushed for 21 touchdowns and threw an additional 13 touchdowns. These statistics including an undefeated season -- earned him the highest prestigious honors in South Florida by being named to Generation Nexxt All-South Florida 1st Team at quarterback.

This off-season, Ferguson, made a clandestine decision to become

the Ohio State's Braxton Miller (quarterback turn wide receiver) of youth football. How did he fair? Ferguson started for nationally recognized -- Florida Fire 7v7 football team at both wide receiver and cornerback (Pictured above) -- helping his squad capture the War Zone Tournament championship.

The converted quarterback would also showcase is versatility by making the Miami Dolphins' [8th grade] Dade vs. Broward All-Stars Game -- starting at cornerback for Dade All-Stars. He was targeted four times. One resulted in a interception, the second was a forced fumble and the last two were in completions.

Ferguson is an intriguing wide receiver prospect that has caught the eyes of the #8 nationally ranked program in the country -- Miami Booker T. Washington from his efforts during practice surrounded by student-athletes who hold both D1-FBS and D1-FCS offers. Ferguson is currently competing for the starting job returning kicks, and he's going to see time at wide receiver this fall listed within the two-deep rotation. He's the Top 3 quickest amongst the Tornadoes wide receivers on varsity and Top 5 fastest.

"After observing the Tornadoes football schedule. I saw four-to-five games that will be blow-outs and opportunities for Ferguson as a returner and wide receiver to make plays. I think making the All-Dade County Team as a Honorable mention is realistic for the future star."
