So. Florida's Impact Freshmen: Gulliver Prep (FL) DL/OL Westley Neal, Jr.
PINE CREST, FLA. -- Gulliver Preparatory football program is searching for new play makers this fall on both sides of the ball -- after losing six seniors who signed division one scholarships last February on National Signing Day.
The Raiders hit jack-pot on both on-and-off field this fall with the addition of [South Miami Grey Ghost 13U] two-sport star/defensive lineman Westley Neal, Jr. The incoming freshman enters Gulliver Prep as an advanced placement student-athlete (3.7 weighted GPA) and immediately, passes the eye-test standing 5-foot-11, 268 pounds who's great at the point of contact, tough and moves extremely well for someone his size.
Before I go in-depth with his stats and accomplishments. Did you know? The space-eater started at tight end for his 7-on-7 football team [Ghost Riders] and advanced to the IMG's 7-on-7 National Championship for the 14-15 age division.
TRACK AND FIELD STAND-OUT
The big-man also won every "shot put" event this past off-season in Track and Field and finished second place in the "disc". He can thank his mother, Latoya Williams, for the track and field shoot put success.
She was a track and field "shot put" stand out from South Miami High School. Neal, Jr. is far done from growing. His father Westley Neal Sr. added to his athletic success, as a multi-sport star for both Coral Gables and Gulliver Prep that stood 6-foot-4. Neal Jr, football game has been dramatically impacted by these particular individuals: Korey & Keirandra Moss, Johnny Ziegler, Gail Scippio and coach Gonzalo Dorta.
Neal, Jr. is a balance defensive tackle -- who accumulated twelve sacks and multiple over ten tackles-for-loss and was rarely were single-blocked the entire season. Week in-and-out, the space-eater was double-teamed and sometimes triple-teamed.
MOST MEMORABLE DEFENSIVE LINEMAN
I (Jerry Williamson) remember watching high-powered Suniland Sundevils offense led by Generation Nexxt All-South Florida First-team QB Brandon McDuffey Jr. try to run inside at Westley Neal, Jr. and after seeing him cause havoc two consecutive plays, the Sundevils quickly went shotgun spread the next play. Neal, Jr. played on both sides of the ball in the Miami Dolphins' Dade vs. Broward All-Stars Game. He contributed on both sides of the ball. At defensive tackle, he managed one sack and three tackles-for-loss and switched over to the offensive side of the ball at offensive guard and aided in creating running lanes for well-recognized Tamiami Colts RB Andre Stringfield.
Neal, Jr. was his league's top interior lineman and arguably the top athlete within the trenches. His production in the Dade vs. Broward All-Stars Game and fall success -- earned him the highest prestigious honors in South Florida by being named Generation Nexxt All-South Florida 1st Team Defensive Lineman (Pictured Above, #99 Blue & White)
The big-man also became my fourth youth football eight-grade Rising Star joining the company of:
Miami Southridge 17' DB Billy Gibson Jr. (University of Miami)
Miami Booker T. Washington 19' RB Marcus Barthell (3 - FBS offers)
Miami Southridge 19' OLB Diamante Howard (Rivals' 4-Star)
Westminister Christian 19' WR Kalani Norris (Temple offer)
Westminister Christian 20' QB Brandon McDuffey Jr. (Generation Nexxt All-South Florida 1st Team)
Gulliver Prep will use his frame immediately on varsity at both offensive guard and defensive tackle. Count Neal, Jr as one of the Raiders future division one prospects moving forward as the Raiders continue to rebuild. Neal, Jr. also have ties to the hometown University of Miami. His bloodline is fast and extremely talented. His cousins are NFL Hall of Fame' Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Derrick Brooks and Uni. of Miami graduate and Atlanta Falcons' corner back DeMarcus Van Dyke.
Jerry Williamson thoughts on Westley Neal, Jr.
"I expect him to contribute right away for the Raiders. He's already a can't miss prospect. He reminds me of former OL/DL Braynon Edwards (Tulane). Once, he begin to grow vertically. We're talking about a ten plus offer kid all said and done.
