The Return of the Forgotten: North Dakota State College of Science, Freshman CB Alex Jasmin (6-2, 18

Wahpeton, ND – Every year there are a number of talented high school seniors nationwide who doesn't make it to the highest level of collegiate play due to multiple reasons such as academics, wrongdoing as well as standardized (ACT & SAT) test scores, and are forced to go the junior college route, while getting whatever their respective issues are in order, with hopes of getting back into the mix.

Jasmin's story for going the junior college route wasn't due to academics, wrongdoing nor standardized test scores. How about a simple "android alarm clock" going off while taking his Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) – which resulted in his test being invalidated, and hindered accepting offers from the likes of Michigan State and Eastern Illinois.

Due to Jasmin's 2.4 weighted GPA – the former three-star recruit, hopes of becoming a college qualifier – was scoring a 19 on his ACT as a replacement for not taking the FCAT reading section. Yet, it would take the former Melbourne prep star, two-long years to score a 19 on his ACT after four failed attempts. On February of 2016, the once Sunshine State leader in interceptions with ten, officially became a college qualifier.

Treasure Coast vs. Space Coast All-Star Game

The former Space Coast all-star selection (#9, pictured above) – two year absence, will help his recruitment the second time around growing an additional inch taller, standing a legitimately 6-foot-2.

He could now effortlessly dunk a 10-foot basketball goal after countless hours of explosion workouts, that consisted of box jumps, touching the basketball rim and running and jumping upwards on bleachers at Palm Bay football stadium. Including collegiate off-season training from his buddies – FSU's running back Jacquez Patrick, UF's defensive back Marcus Maye and West Florida's athletes Antwan Griffin and Marvin Conley.

Jasmin would then reach out to former Eastern Illinois assistant coach Chanterius Brock, who offered him as a senior, for advice regarding the junior college route. Coach Brock would refer the former All-State and All-County selection to Jerry Williamson, a youth and prep analyst of South Florida – who helped resurrect a number of student-athletes careers - finding them junior college placement free of charge.

"I was introduced to coach Jerry Williamson by my former recruiter coach Brock. Jerry has done a great job pushing me out to top junior colleges and also monitoring my Facebook pages and Twitter account. He is a great guy and also loves getting kids into successful atmospheres and that's just somebody I can't let down for all the work he has been putting in for me." said Jasmin.

Jasmin's Ultimate Highlight Reel

As a senior at Palm Bay High School located in Melbourne, Fla. – Jasmin led his team in all-purpose touchdowns, receptions, receiving yards, interceptions and least targeted on defense. Notable junior college football programs from across the country such as Riverside (CA), Garden City (KS), Coffeyville (KS) and North Dakota State College of Science just to name a few would instantly noticed the senior playmaking ability and extended scholarships. Jasmin explained why he chose North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) over nationally recognized junior college football programs.

"NDSCS defensive coordinator Eric Francis-Bey told me a lot of great stuff and he likes what he saw on my film. He always preached to me, that he is going to work me as hard as he can and also treat me like the Division 1 Athlete, I know I can be. He also preached to me about school, that's what I loved the most. He told me the tutors are always willing to help, so take full advantage of it. I know I have be a student-athlete first, and I felt a lot of honesty and loyalty speaking with coach Francis-Bey so I made a commitment with him. Seeing what he did for the program and his players really stood out to me, which is why I decided to play for him and the Wildcat Nation. I'm truly blessed to be here an I know all this hard work will pay off. I'm just taking it one step at a time." said Jasmin.

As of today, the 6-foot-2, 180-pound freshman cornerback reported to fall camp on August 8th and immediately made impact. Lets just say, coach Francis-Bey stayed to his word, as Jasmin received his first collegiate offer – exactly eight days later by Louisiana-Lafayette.

GETTING BACK INTO THE MIX

Jasmin is hoping if he can once again catch the attention of University of Pittsburgh head football coach Pat Narduzzi -- who offered Jasmin his senior season as Michigan State defensive coordinator.

Jasmin's season opener vs. Rochester Community and Technical College (Defending conference champs) would make his mark. The Palm Bay product was targeted four times (zero completions) during the first half and the RCTC wouldn't test his side of the field for the remainder of the game. Resulting in a Wildcat victory over Rochester CTC, 55-41.

North Dakota State College of Science secondary – hit jack-pot this fall with two forgotten three-star Floridian recruits. Strong safety Frank Newman (5-11, 206) and cornerback Alex Jasmin (6-2, 180) is without question – the top tandem in Minnesota College Athletic Conference (MCAC) and perhaps the best unknown tandem in junior college football.

Two years later, Newman and Jasmin – are now teammates and winning together after competing against one another (Space Coast All-Stars vs. Hard Knocks) at the Badger 7-on-7 Tournament during the semi-finals. The freezing state of North Dakota -- has a hidden hot prospect from the state of Florida who possesses size (6-foot-2, 180-pound), speed, play-making ability and most importantly, he's a college qualifier.
