Rising Star: Coral Gables 18' CB Rachad Wildgoose (5-11, 175)

Coral Gables, FLA. -- South Florida high school football, is the mecca when it comes to talented playmakers, making an impact at the next level. There's a reason why, college football programs from all levels, camp out from Homestead to West Palm Beach year in (and) in out after national signing day, because the nationally recognized football names aren't necessarily the cream-of-the /react-text react-text: 1050 -crop in most cases. /react-text react-text: 1054 Coral Gables rising junior cornerback Rachad Wildgoose is a name that's not going to ring a bell, but he's perfect example of what I mention above. Wildgoose, is quietly handling business both on-and-off the field for the Cavaliers. /react-text react-text: 1058 Wildgoose standing 5-foot-11, 175-pounds with 4.5/40 speed, timed at FAU football camp, surprisingly -- doesn't hold a college football verbal offer nor is receiving interest at the moment, while allowing only one touchdown this fall for 2 receiving yards versus wide receivers who has over 35 football subdivision offers combined. /react-text

react-text: 1062 Star Studded Competition /react-text react-text: 1066 Wildgoose is performing at an high-level covering wide receivers -- who holds college football offers from notable college football conferences the SEC, ACC as well as the BIG TEN. /react-text react-text: 1070 Academics /react-text react-text: 1074 Wildgoose sports a 3.0 weighted grade-point-average and is scheduled to take the ACT this upcoming December. He's on the right track, college football coaches heading into spring. /react-text react-text: 1078 Athleticism /react-text react-text: 1082 Wildgoose only as a junior, is a beast in the weight room. He's already a 1,000-pound club member. He can bench press 255lbs, squats 365lbs and dead lift 395lbs, tallying 1,015 pounds of pure strength -- including a 31-inch vertical jump with sub 4.5/40 speed. /react-text react-text: 1086 The Cavaliers secondary is extremely talented, and Wildgoose would be the ideal choice for targeting with 4-Star DB Gilbert Frierson (UM commit) and 2-Star CB Marlin Brooks (FIU commit) in the same secondary, but Wildgoose has quickly earned the respect as a legit cover corner like his teammates in the secondary, just without accolades next to his name. He also displayed top-end speed by coming from the opposite side of the field and running down Keys Gate Charter running back Jahbrille Campbell (Miami-Dade's leading 4A-Ind. rusher) that had six-points written all over it. /react-text react-text: 1090 Wildgoose bloodline is extremely talented with siblings starting for in-state programs - Florida State University wide receiver Jesus Wilson and Florida Atlantic University DB Ocie Rose. /react-text react-text: 1094 Coral Gables Cavaliers HC Roger Pollard /react-text react-text: 1098 "Rachad Wildgoose is a smart and knowledgable player, will translate into a great corner. The sky is the limit for him, very strong for his size and will be one of the best corners to come through gables", said coach Pollard. /react-text

Scouting Report

react-text: 1102 Wildgoose is a young man, I first observed during the off-season at Florida Fire 7v7 football tryouts. He allowed one reception out of seven one-on-one's battles. This fall, sums up exactly what I observed, competing against over 400 high school student-athletes, who tried out for the fire.

Wildgoose is physical and excels in open field tackling. He's quicker than fast, but displays sneaky top-end speed. He understand coverage and is very smart. He can fit in either man or zone heavy schemes. Looks smooth during one-on-ones flipping his flips and is calm once finding the ball in the air while in coverage.
