Getting To Know - FYFL - Miami Gardens Ravens 11U QB Keywone "Lights Out" Jenkins

Miami Gardens, FLA. — Florida Youth Football League (FYFL) member, Miami Gardens Ravens 11U football team — has a star dual-threat quarterback named Keywone "Lights Out" Jenkins, who's arguably one of the most well-rounded student-athletes in the nation for the class of 2023.

The sixth-grade gunslinger has helped his youth football team earn the nickname "Goon squad", after losing one game within the last three seasons, which included an out-of-state (24-0) victory against nationally ranked North Henry Tigers (GA.). Jenkins connected with wide receiver Chauncey "Megatron" McArthur for two touchdowns.

While a large number of youth football teams across the country, prefer the three yards and a cloud of dust concept, Jenkins has thrown well over 100 passing touchdowns the past seven seasons for Opa-locka, Lake Stevens and now, the Miami Gardens Ravens.

Winning Pedigree

One thing you can't teach, is a natural born leader and winner. Jenkins a multi-sport star, excels at both football and basketball. He's a quarterback on the gridiron and a point guard on the court for travel basketball team Miami Mon-stars.

Jenkins has appeared in six-straight football league's super bowls appearances (4-2 record) and captured over fifteen USSA Basketball Tournament championships.

Academics

Jenkins isn't your average metropolitan area student-athlete. He has experienced the recruiting process already. Not football, academically, as magnet programs University School of Nova, Trinity and Rivera all made their bid for the scholar-athlete. The gunslinger had the option to attend any magnet school in South Florida, entering the sixth-grade this fall.

Jenkins, a current sixth-grader at Mater Academy Charter, which is an A+ school, is taking seventh-grade classes. Until 9-years-old, he didn't play with kids his age. He's beyond his age on-and-off the field as you can see.

Accolades

How good is this young man? He has out-right earned FYFL's top quarterback award back-to-back seasons and took home the biggest award of them all, the league's Heisman Trophy award.

Moreover, Jenkins, once again played against older kids, as he started last fall for the Dade's 11U FBU squad as a fifth-grader. He threw and ran for a touchdown.

The gunslinger also made the Miami Dolphins' Dade 10U football roster as the starting quarterback and threw two touchdowns. This season, he's lighting up scoreboards as usual. His football team is currently (6-0) and Jenkins has found the end zone 13-times, consisting of 11 passing and 2 rushing touchdowns.

Jenkins is just as good on defense, lining up at free safety and cornerback. He pulled in one interception during the Miami Dolphins' Dade vs. Broward All-Star Game. The sky is the limit for this young man.

Here's a note, in his first-year playing 5-on-5 football last year, for nationally recognized Ryan Football, Jenkins captured the 10U Flag Football National Championship.
