Game of the Week - Goulds Rams vs. Northwest B&G Falcons, 18-18
Cutler Bay, FLA. -- The Greater Miami South Florida Pop Warner, "Game of the Week", featured the Pee Wee/130lbs. undefeated Goulds Rams, facing off against the No. 1 ranked Div. 2, Northwest B&G Club Falcons. The atmosphere was mind-blowing, as fans chanted throughout four quarters, and as the sports saying goes, "Big-time players, make big-time plays" and Goulds Rams QB Anton Coney and Northwest B&G Club Falcons QB Khalil Anglin, left their mark on Saturday's afternoon showdown at Palmetto Raiders field.
The first score of the game, would take place during the second quarter as QB Anton Coney, would display amazing athleticism, appearing as the youth football version of (Louisville) Lamar Jackson, escaping three would-be tacklers as he raced towards the sidelines while his eyes remained upfield and would find wide receiver Adrian Harris for a 43-yard touchdown. ESPN Top 10 worthy. Right before the half, the Rams offense, would strick again as running back Jeffery Green would punch it into the end zone, from 4-yards out, extending the lead, 12-0.
With under 3-minutes remaining before the halft, the Falcons QB Khalil Anglin would take advantage of a one-on-one go route that had touchdown written all over it, but the Rams CB Daevon Dandridge, would come down with the interception. Anglin would bounce back, and begin a sneak peak of the second half, as he connected with wide receivers Mark Evans and Corey Washington, before time expired.
Second half, the Rams would make multiple miscues, giving up a 14-point lead. The momentum of the game would shift, as the Falcons offense, would dink and dunk the Rams secondary. Anglin scanning the field, would find Corey Washington on a perfectly, thrown go-route for a 28-yard touchdown and later, connect with Mark Evans on a fade route. Anton Coney would answer back using his dual-threat ability to move the chains. Ahmari Walker would nearly go the distance, on a jet-sweep as all eyes were on Anton Coney for over 50-yards, Corey Washington would make a game saving touchdown tackle.
The next two touchdowns of the game would come from Rams' RB Devonte Phillip-Jean, who would stiff arm (all the way to the ground) a would-be tackler, and bend the corner, down the sidelines for a 11-yard touchdown. The Falcons' RB Devonte Adderley would power his way in from 4-yards out. The Rams defense, would bend, but not break, stopping the Falcons offense at their 23-yard line on 4th down after as defensive lineman Jerry Kavaursea would make perhaps the play of the game, as the Rams sideline erupted.
