Unsung Talent - Feather River JUCO Freshman CB Devante Gulley (6-1, 172)
Quincy, CA -- Every other year, Feather River Junior College (Quincy, California) produces Power 5 conference college football players. The last Eagles' football player to play for a Power 5 conference dates back to 2013, when wide receiver Lavon Pearson signed his letter of intent to play in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) the Tennessee Volunteers.
Three years later, the Eagles have once again another Power 5 conference caliber athlete on campus named Devante Gulley, who stands 6-foot-1, 172-pounds and hail from the Miami metropolitan area (Miami-Dade County) that once held a verbal offer from Temple.
Devante, is someone you'll really have to do your homework on, he'll not appear on recruiting sites, but he was once, a household name in South Florida, that captured back-to-back Pop Warner Div. 1 National Championships (Richmond-Perrine Giants) and was recognized as equal talent with former teammates DB Ermon Lane (FSU), RB Jordan Cronkrite (UF), DB Timothy Irvin (ECU), who were all prep four-star recruits and participated in All-American Bowls. His story is somewhat similar to former FSU 5-Star JUCO signee WR Corey Surrency from El Camino College.
/react-text The long and rangy cornerback, is playing lights out for the Eagles this fall, after challenging notable juco D1 feeder teams such as Sierra, Diablo Valley and American River College, who all ranks Top 25 in California Community College in passing offense. Gulley has been targeted 20-plus times through nine games and has allowed a mind-boggling three receptions this fall and zero touchdowns with footage to support this statement. /react-text
Gulley is responsible for 2 interceptions on the season and here's a note, he wasn't targeted in four games. When you evaluate his film, his size standing a 6-foot-1 and sub 4.4/40-Yard Dash speed, the product from Goulds, Florida located in Dade County, will eventually have a Power 5 Conference pull the trigger and offer the unsung star. He's currently receiving no interest and after you observe his film, you'll quickly realize, he's a hidden star. /react-text
