Miami Booker T. Washington (FL) Emerging Star: Senior RB Craig Nelson (Qualifier)
Miami Booker T. Washington senior all-purpose running back Craig Nelson is flying under-the-radar as the Tornadoes aim for yet another state title. Craig sports a 3.1 grade-point-average (GPA) and scored a 21 on his ACT and reports a verbal offer from Idaho.
Standing 5-foot-9, 180-pounds with sub 4.5/40 speed -- his game is both power and speed and not to mention -- he can also play slot receiver and returner at the next level. Craig leads Miami-Dade 2A-5A classification in both rushing yards (992) and touchdowns (8).
Entering the playoffs, the Tornadoes offense that features several division one wide receivers has leaned on their running game with Craig Nelson.
Against Glades Central he rushed for 194 yards on 27 carries and 2 touchdowns and continued his dominance the following week with 20 carries for 116 yards vs. Miami Edison.
Last season, Craig was responsible for 497 rushing and 105 receiving yards and six touchdowns. He has already surpassed his junior statistics, despite missing several games earlier this season. He's without question one of the most talented under-the-radar seniors that's a full qualifier in South Florida. You're getting a kid that can help a program out in three areas, he can contribute at running back, slot receiver and returner,
