Rising Star: Miami Palmetto (FLA.) 18' WR Ivan Thomas (6-4, 200)
Miami Palmetto (FLA.) football program is on the rise, as the Panthers finished (9-2, 3-1) on the season -- behind the efforts of emerging junior wide receiver Ivan Thomas, who stands 6-foot-4, 200-pounds that's jumping out the gym (38 Inch vertical jump) along with strong hands.
Ivan was responsible for 34 receptions for 542 receiving yards and 9 touchdowns for the 2016 season. Ivan sports a 2.6 weighted GPA and is schedule to take his ACT in January of 2017. The emerging junior will enter next fall as Miami-Dade County's -- No. 2 returning leader in receiving yards and No. 2 returning leader in receiving touchdowns (9) in South Florida.
College football programs: Temple, Syracuse and Bowling Green -- have all extended verbal offers to the Panthers wide receiver, who ranks Top 10 in the county in four activities for the 2016 season.
Ivan recently, earned All Hands Camp best one-handed catch award and went over ten times during 1-on-1's and didn't lose a battle. He's going to be a 10+ offer recruit, all said and done. He shined this past off-season versus D1 talent for first-year 7on7 football program Struggle Nation.
Ivan informed me that Kentucky, University of Miami, Southern Mississippi as well as Marshall -- is all showing interest. The Panthers unheralded junior is also a two-sport standout. He's a three year varsity starter for the Panthers basketball team at power forward. He averaged 6.1 rebounds per game.
