Class of 2021: Southwest Miami-Dade Top 35 List (8th Grade)
Another exciting year of youth football talent located in the "down south" areas has come to an end. I remember highlighting Miami Southridge four-star and state champion junior wide receiver Mark Pope (Florida Fire South) like it was yesterday, for the Palmetto Raiders, earning his first offer as an eighth-grader from Nebraska. Who has the talent and size to make the next splash like Mark Pope? Corneluis Collier Jr. and Sirr Daye, certainly has the size and game that college football coaches fall head over heels for, and could be the first wave of guys to be offered verbal scholarships. Torey "Scooter' Morrisin is a highlight waiting to happen. As he continues to grow, will play a role in his outcome regarding scholarship attention, but as far as the high school world is concern, don't be surprised if he makes first-team as a freshman.
,
1. QB | Torey "Scooter" Morrison | Keys Gate Charter | 5-8, 135lbs.
Torey has started varsity, since spring of his seventh-grade year, and was named honorable mention by Miami Herald for the 2016 season. Scored touchdowns against state powers Chaminade-Madonna, Jacksonville Bolles and Miami Booker T. Washington and engineered his first prep come back victory against Belen Jesuit Preparatory. Torey, recently was contacted by USA National Team for their USA vs. Canada All-Star Game.
2. LB | Cornelius Collier Jr. | Richmond-Perrine Giants | 6-0, 165lbs.
Cornelius is the best incoming high school prospect in my opinion. He dominated the Pop Warner National Championship game as well as the Miami Dolphins Dade vs. Broward All-Stars Game. He recently earned Florida Fire 15U Tryouts Top defensive performer. Expect a division one offer(s) come spring around this time next year.
3. RB/LB | Sirr Daye | Everglades Prep (HS) | 5-10, 180
Sirr notable eighth-grade varsity production went unnoticed due to film. He was named FBU South Tryouts Top linebacker and scored seven touchdowns for the 2016 season, including three sacks. He reminds me of Ernie Sims at North Florida Christian as a two-way standout, before signing to FSU. He has been chosen for the Miami Dolphins Dade vs. Broward All-Stars Game for two consecutive seasons.
4. OL/DL | Kesean Norris-Hayes | South Kendall Seahawks | 5-9, 200
Kesean comes from a great bloodline. For two consecutive years, he has worked for his recognition challenging Laurence Seymore and other notable big man in South Florida. His versatility, toughness and production on both sides of the ball makes him a prospect to keep an eye on come fall. He anchored the seahawks trenches and was one of two lineman from South Kendall Seahawks 13U to be selected to the Miami Dolphins Dade vs. Broward All-Stars Game.
5A. RB/CB | Keenan Toomer | South Miami Grey Ghost |5-7, 145
The three-time MXYFL champion, has outright solidify himself as the No. 1 ranked cornerback for the Southwest Miami-Dade region. His performance during fall and the Miami Dolphins Dade vs. Broward All-Stars Game, displayed a far better overall athlete than originally expected. Keenan has shined in all three phases of the game for the Grey Ghost over the years. His game vs. South Kendall Seahawks this fall, caught my attention in the secondary. He will lay the wood and his coverage skills better than most think.
5B. RB/KR/PR | Brashard Smith | Richmond Giants |5-7, 140
Brashard is the modern day Devin Hester of youth football that can contribute at several positions at the next level. He's a jack-of-all-trades and is going to be a great addition for the high school that lands him this upcoming fall. He has proven time-and-time again he's clutch in notable games. On Sunday, July 28, 2013 at North Carolina A&T University, Brashard won the 100m title clocking a 13:02a.
7. DL/LB|Dustin Vinas |South Miami Grey Ghost |5-11, 170
Depending what high school he decides on, I feel he can make an immediate impact on varsity. He has started for the Dade All-Stars for two seasons. I never question his toughness and work ethic. He could make an impact like freshman and first-team all-county selection DE Jesus Machado from Champagnat Catholic.
7. RB | Darius Chester | Palmetto Raiders |5-7, 160
Earned Florida Youth Football League MVP as an seventh-grader and was the face of the Raiders varsity football team. Darius led the Raiders in both touchdowns and all-purpose yards and displayed the strength, power and speed to put games away.
8. DL | Matt Balsera | Kendall Boys & Girls Club | 5-8, 200
Matt is perhaps the 'newcomer of the year' regarding taking the league by storm and earning the prestige honors as a Miami Dolphins Dade vs. Broward All-Stars selection. He dominated every MXYFL game I attended this fall.
9. WR/CB| Cedarius Watts | Palm Glades Prep |5-7, 135
Started varsity for first-year football program Palm Glades Prep and scored in all three phases of the game. Cedarius was one of four eighth-graders to start varsity football in
10. RB/LB| Marc Charlemagne | Palmetto Bay Broncos | 5-7, 140
Marc is a versatile athlete that displays a high football IQ for the game. He played RB, WR, LB and DB for the Broncos. His future appears at cornerback in my opinion, but of course kids game evolves overtime. He's one of most talented but little-known prospects in the south. Playing FBU or Miami Dolphins Dade vs. Broward All-Stars Game would have benefited him.
11. RB | Justin Smith | Richmond-Perrine
12. QB | Carlos Ros | Kendall Boys & Girls Club
13. OL | Brandon Leon | Kendall Boys & Girls Club
14. ATH | Jason Marshall | Richmond-Perrine Giants
15. ATH | Jeremiah Forbes | Palmetto Bay Broncos
16. WR | Isaiah Morales | Kendall Boys & Girls Club Kolts
17. QB | James Johnson | Richmond-Perrine Giants
