Locking it Down: Unsung freshman CB Gulley is emerging as JUCO premier cornerback

QUINCY, Cali. -- From the east coast, to the west coast, power five football programs across the nation, has heavily shifted towards the junior college route over the last few years looking for both top-rated and hidden gems, that's all about business with two years of eligibility remaining to make a name for himself.

Feather River College (JUCO) freshman cornerback Devante Gulley is certainly one of the most-talented and yet unrecognized recruits in the 2018 college football recruiting class. Devante, a native from Miami-Dade County, FL, is a power five conference type of talent and is without question a defensive coordinator recruiting wishlist dream.

He's tall and rangy, standing 6-foot-1 3/4, 175-pounds, who's consistently clocked in the neighborhood of a low 4.4 in the 40-yard dash with an arm length of 32'. He can bench press and squat over 300-pounds effortlessly, and locked down the big and notable wide receivers (bounce backs) from California Community College Athletic Association.

The unsung cornerback, plays in the toughest junior college football conference in Northern California. With that being said, Devante was targeted approximately (26) times for the 2016 season and allowed exactly, (4) receptions and didn't allow a single touchdown as the Eagles' No. 1 cover guy. Statistically, he was responsible for 41 tackles, 2 interceptions, 10 pass break ups.

Devante, is on schedule to become a mid-year quailifer (December of 2017) and is also, locking down things inside of the classrom as well. The once non qualifier out of high school, has been named to the Dean's List for two consecutive semesters, and sports a 3.41 weighted GPA, along with 29.5 credits heading into the spring term. Devante, is unfortunately, not receiving any recruiting attention at the moment, but is extremely optimistic about his chances moving forward if a college football coach observe his hudl film including factor his measurables and academic success.
