Ft. Myers' Speedster: WR Yasias Young (Ft. Myers HS)
The southwest region of Florida has a star in the making -- from Ft. Myers High School, named Yasias Young, who's an dynamic underclassmen ATHLETE with blazing speed, who has the speed to take it the distance from anywhere on the field. The 5-foot-9, 160-pound slot receiver and return specialist, dominated on varsity this past fall, and was selected to U.S. Army Freshman All-American Bowl held in San Antonio, Texas. SPEED KILLS For the past three years, the Ft. Myers native, have travelled to the Miami Metropolitan area to competed in notable combines and invitation only events, and has recorded the fastest 40-yard for his graduating class which speaks volumes. This off-season, Young continued his dominance in South Florida, finishing first place in the three testing stations, which consisted of the forty-yard dash (4.45), vertical jump (41.2) and broad jump (10-3) among his classmates. Here's a note, Young finished Top 10 in the 40-yard dash and No. 2 overall in the vertical jump and broad jump out of 500+ prospects at the Rivals Combine. CONTRIBUTING
Young instantly, made a name for himself out of the gate, as he handled business inside the classroom, and on the gridiron on Friday night, as a freshman. He's a member of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) and honor roll student-athlete, sporting a 3.8 weighted GPA. Young earned All-Area honorable mention, after amassing over 1,100 all-purpose yards and 13 touchdowns on varsity. Moreover, he shined in the U.S. Army Freshman All-American Bowl. Young's family tree is extremely talented. His cousins are on active professional and collegiate rosters who are: wide receiver Sammy Watkins (Buffalo Bills), cornerback Jaylin Watkins (Philadelphia Eagles), Jeremy Ware (Chicago Bears) and NFL draft hopeful, defensive back Jordan Diggs (South Carolina) as well as Team USA women's U17 basketball athlete Destanni Henderson (South Carolina signee).
This off-season, Young will advance to regionals, in track and field as the anchor for the 4×100. If you do happened to question his vertical jump, that's the star in the making from Ft. Myers, effortlessly, dunking a basketball (left pictured). According to Young, Uni. of Miami (FL), Mississippi St, Tennessee, Maryland and Iowa St, are all interested.
