Rising Star: Champagnat Catholic (FL) 18' DT-QB Desjuan Kearse (6'0", 170)

HIALEAH -- The first phase of high school football action during the off-season -- is none other than the stiff competition of South Florida's 7v7 All-Star football.
The all-star tournaments are both -- a fan and media dream, seeing highly sought after recruits clash -- who may never play one another, until possibly the next level (college football).
This is also the time of the year, where both the unknown and underrated prospects, such as Desjuan Kearse, who dream to showcase their talents on the "Big Stage", and shine against the well recognized recruits -- and gain recognition, something they lacked before the start of spring.

Florida Fire 7v7 All-Stars starting quarterback Desjuan Kearse, who stands 6-feet, 170-pounds, who transferred from Charles W. Flanagan this off-season to the 2A state runner-ups, Champagnat Catholic, has went from "who" to someone "worthy" of paying attention as spring is officially underway.
Kearse is an intriguing prospect. He's an athlete that plays quarterback, but has the arm strength and accuracy, to catch the attention of college football's up-tempo and spread shotgun offensive coordinators.
He's currently receiving interest from Florida Atlantic University and McNesse St. at the moment. He's someone worthy of paying attention to as he switches from t-shirt and shorts (7v7 All-Stars football) into equipment as the Lions will challenge both Miami High and Keys Gate Charter for this upcoming spring football game.
Kearse is living up to the dual threat title as well. As the starting quarterback for Florida Fire, he has orchestrated several 7v7 Tournament championships, earned War Zone Tournament offensive MVP and most recently, qualifed for regionals in the 4×100 and 4×400, as the sprinter for Champagnat Catholic Track and Field team.
Last fall, Kearse (despite missing three games due to injury) was responsible for a total of 16 touchdowns. He threw 10 touchdowns and ran for 6 additional scores including a single-game best, passing for 3 TD's against powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas.
The soon to be senior, can focus on just returning back to the 2A state finals, come fall sporting a 3.7 weighted GPA and a 1210 SAT score.
