Rising Star: Miami High (FL) 19' CB Andrew Bloodsaw Jr. (5-11, 160)
By Jerry Williamson
Miami High Senior first-year head coach Sedrick Irvin returns to his alma mater, and from the new additions this off-season alone, it's safe to say, the Stingarees football program is heading in the right direction.
The Stingarees secondary, will see an upgrade in athleticism and physical play, with the addition of Miami Beach two-year varsity starter athlete Andrew Bloodsaw Jr. (Pictured above: Alongside UM's star RB Mark Walton) who have allowed one receiving touchdown in two seasons.
The 5-foot-11, 160-pound emerging star, was responsible for 36 Tackles, 12 deflections, 1 force fumble and allowed seven receptions (five of the seven catches were underneath) for the 2016 season. As the starter for N2B 7v7 All-Star football team, which stands for Next 2 Blow, he allowed one reception the entire event in Orlando, FL, competing in the Pylon Tournament.
Based on film, he's an excellent run stopper for a cornerback and he doesn't allow many free releases from the line of scrimmage despite the size of the wide receiver. He's technically sound, and is also, the son of a former Miami Carol City 1997 (state champion) defensive tackle Andrew Bloodsaw Sr.
Two-year varsity starter at Miami Beach: Picuted is Andrew Bloodsaw Jr.
Bloodshaw Jr., father (Miami Beach defensive coordinator the past season) stands 6-foot-2, so expect the emerging star to add on a few additional inches before countdown to National Signing Day.
Bloodsaw is the next Rising Star, mark my word. The Stingarees underclassmen roster is quite impressive, keep an on them and of course, Andrew Bloodsaw this spring.
