South Dade's Duo Cornerbacks: Ivey (UM commit) & Stevenson (UF commit)
The Buccaneers football program, who won the state title in 2013, by defeating Apopka HS have seen their share of highly sought after division one prospects over the years. The Bucs' secondary, have produced its share as well dating back to University of Miami's great and NFL star Antrelle Rolle as well as James Wiggins (Cincinnati), Jhavonte Dean (UM) signed from juco, Darin Baldwin (UCF) just to name a few. American organized football has evolved into a pass happy league, meaning defensive coordinators must now, have people who can defend all that passing. The 2017 NFL DRAFT, set a record, as a total of 56 secondary athletes were selected.
Senior cornerback Demetrius Ivey, Jr., who's a rising star product and fellow classmate, junior cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, who has surfaced on the recruiting scene this off-season, both are long and rangy prospects, that's garnered notable subdivision one verbal offers from power five football conferences. Ivey, Jr, standing at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds has been 100% committed to the canes, after earning his offer at their camp. He performed well this off-season for second-year 7v7 high school all-stars football team named Nghtmr. He's rated a three-star and sports nine verbal offers according to 247sports.
Stevenson, who committed to the Uni. of Florida on April 7, 2017, a once little-known
prospect, has surfaced on the recruiting scene. The high school 7v7 all-star football member of the Miami Immortals (second-year in existence) has added several verbal offers of late, most notably, Auburn and Georgia. He possesses size as well, measuring at 6-foot-1 and weighing 175-pounds. The Bucs defensive coordinator must feel great about his pass defense, with two cornerbacks standing 6-foot-1 that's committed to in-state powers, the Uni. of Miami (FL) and the Uni. of Florida as well as their 6-foot-2, 180-pounds senior defensive back Jamal Andersen (Louisville commit). Keep an eye on the Bucs this upcoming fall, their roster features more division one commits than Ivey Jr., and Stevenson.
