Small-School Talent with Huge College Potential: Palm Glades Prep (FL) 18' CB Ja'Morie Grie

By Jerry Williamson

One of the bright spots as a prospect when it comes to world of high school football recruiting -- is having the ideal measurables that will have a college football coach ask who's that kid. You can't coach height. But you can sure as heck recruit it. The focal point of Palm Glades Prep football program -- is none other than unrevealed  senior cornerback Ja'Morie Grier. The four-year varsity starter, who stands 6-foot and 160-pounds (per Butch Davis Camp) is a little-known talent with huge college potential. Grier proved to be a shutdown corner last season, finishing with six interceptions (tied for second in South Florida) and adding 52 total tackles and 2 defensive touchdowns. Grier, the younger cousin of Green Bay Packers wide receiver Herb Waters, has recorded 12 career interceptions (4 defensive TD's) and has blocked 2 field goals and one block punt. The Eagles' team captain who sports a 2.8 grade-point-average -- is having a monster senior campaign with 17 tackles, 2 interceptions, 2 touchdowns, and 1 punt block over the first two games this season. The two-sport star, Grier, who led his basketball team to the district finals at shooting guard and small forward -- is thought of very highly, on-and-off the field by head coach Rebert Green (Miami Southridge Class 6A state runner-up in 1993 at defensive tackle) as a very nice and humble young man.

"Grier is a kid, I'll place in front of every coach who visit are school," said Green." He's a man of little words. He just gets the job done. And he's our best cover guy on the team. I wish I can create an entire football roster with his attitude and drive." Grier is schedule to take the ACT on September 9th and hope of becoming the school's first division one signee.
