Who is Sirr Daye? Getting to know Everglades Prep's freshman running back
In 2016, Miami-Dade County could have possibly set a record, with the most eighth-grade varsity starters with a total of five. Everglades Prep freshman running back/linebacker Sirr Daye, was one of the five. Daye, a 5-foot-10, 210-pound, down-hill runner with remarkable strength (bench press 300 and squat 560) after a grey shirt like season as an eighth-grader, where he scored six rushing touchdowns, he's both mentally and physically ready this fall. He reportedly, clocked a 4.58/40-yard dash (hand-timed) per Tony Bing, Everglades Prep head coach.
The Panthers' offense featured the No. 11 overall rusher in South Florida (No. 1 rusher in Miami-Dade at 5A-ind. classification) with Sirr Daye is off to a strong start this season.
The product of the 3A classification has accumulated four total touchdowns (3 rushing/1 passing) and caused one forced fumble that resulted as a safety, playing sparingly on defense at Rover. Daye, has the chance to secure his name as a first team all-county selection as a freshman with a strenuous football schedule. Strength of competition is certainly on his side, with upcoming games vs. Cocoa HS (class 4A reigning champs), Chaminda-Mondonna (class 3A runner up), Champagnat (class 2A runner up) including University School of NSU.
As an eighth-grader, Daye was rushed for over 500 yards and scored 6 rushing TD's and caused 3 force fumbles. Selected to play in Miami Dolphins' Miami-Dade vs. Broward Youth All-Star Game as a seventh and eighth grader. Rising Stars is your source for underclassmen talent in South Florida.
