Top Freshmen Performers: Everglades' Daye named Player of the Week

By Jerry Williamson

Everglades Prep freshman running back (athlete) Sirr Daye (5-10, 205), a two-year varsity starter, is on pace to become the first Panthers' football player to earn first-team all-county. He currently ranks Top 10 in South Florida in both rushing yards and touchdowns.

After Daye's stellar performance versus district opponent Palm Glades Prep, he outright earned the Rising Stars overall Player of the Week. Daye amassed a total of 210 yards (137 rush/73 receiving) and 3 TD's (2 touchdowns were called back) and a two-point conversion in the first half. He's a Rising Star product, that's hoping for his recruitment to pick up.

Miami Central's freshman running back Amari Daniels (5-10, 175), who competes in the most challenging district in the state of Florida, ranks No. 10 overall in rushing yards.

That's pretty impressive. Against Edison, he rushed for 70 yards and 1 TD on just four carries. The Rockets could have easily allowed the freshman to run wild against the Red Raiders defense.

Freshman phenom, Timothy Burns Jr. (5-10, 160) and Cornelius Collier, Jr. (6-1, 170) continues to headline the cornerback position. Burns was targeted once, but didn't receive any action afterwards.

If the opponents don't challenge you that speaks volumes, especially after Burns, Jr. prior game vs. Sunset, where he accumulated (3) interceptions. Collier, Jr. hauled in his third interception of the season vs. North Miami, and nearly returned it for six.

Everglades Prep freshman LB/FB Kavon Moore (5-11, 195) is another Panthers product, who is a solid player that shows up every game. Moore recorded 8 solo tackles against the 4A reigning champs Cocoa HS. His (8) solo tackles consisted from a 3star recruit who's currently committed to Louisville. Moore leads his team in tackles and ranks Top 20 in tackles in Miami-Dade County (Ind.-4A classification).

Freshman defensive back James Williams (6-2, 185) of Monsignor Pace amassed roughly ten tackles vs. Hialeah HS. Many feel, Williams, will be the highest recruit to come from Pace since the recruitment of the nation's No. 1 linebacker Willie Williams. South Florida is loaded in the secondary for the class-of-2021 with size. Southwest Miami's emerging freshman cornerback/return specialist, Michael Andrews who stands 5-9, 150-pounds, who's only 13-years-of-age, continues shine. The freshman was targeted five times versus highly respected Miami Norland and allowed just one reception for five yards. South Dade's QB/ATH Torey Morrison (5-9, 155) continues his undefeated streak as a starter defeating North Miami Beach at home. Morrison compiled over 150 AP yards and one passing touchdown. Doral Academy freshman WR Khalil Brantley (6-2, 175), hauled in a 40-yard touchdown pass vs. Hialeah.

Gulliver Prep's ATH Marc Charlemagne (5-9, 150) locked down his side of the field and turned in several offensive plays, that resulted in big yardage.
