Nunn, Jr. emerging as playmaker for Panthers' defense

By Jerry Williamson

College football coaches from across the country make it their priority to visit, and extend verbal scholarships to South Florida's most highly sought after and unheralded recruits. The area is so rich with skilled athletes, that Miami Palmetto HS -- could arguably have the most well-rounded safety, who doesn't hold a star rating next to his name. Class-of-2019 defensive back/athlete Cornelius Nunn, Jr. (5-11, 180), the nephew of former FSU defensive tackle Desmond Hollin, is a jack-of-all-trades at the position. Nunn, Jr. has pulled in verbal scholarships by the likes of Southern Mississippi, FAU, Bowling Green, and UAB. The 5-foot-11 unsung defensive athlete can efficiently play cornerback, safety, nickel and standout on special teams. As a return specialist, he averaged 26.9 yards per return and blocked (2) field goals.

How fast is he? How about clocking a 4.5 lazer at the Under Armour Camp at Gulliver Prep and also, clocking a 4.43 (hand-timed) at Florida International University's football camp.

Can he (Nunn, Jr.) force turnovers? He sure can. This past fall, the big-hitting and ball-hawking safety, was responsible for a total of (8) take-a-ways. Neil, Jr. had (4) interceptions, two were negated due to penalties, caused (2) force fumbles, and blocked (2) kicks on special teams. Nunn, Jr. makes it known -- that he loves physical contact and being around the ball. Did you know? He recorded three games of (15) plus tackles and also, (1) game consisting of a mind blogging twenty-one solo tackles

If you're looking for a safety that possesses cornerback speed and also, hits like a linebacker -- then Pine Crest, Fla. is where you should visit in coming weeks.

Neil, Jr. is capped off a great junior season. He was responsible for 68 tackles, 4 force fumbles, 2 Ints (2 called back), 2 blocked kicks, and 1 fumble recovery. He's schedule to take the ACT this upcoming January. I'll not be shock if he's awarded a 3-star soon.  The secondary also features extremely talented class-of-219 prospects such as Eddie Williams, Jr. (5 - FBS offers) and Cuevas Russ (2 - FBS offers).

If you're searching for the stars of tomorrow college football coaches. Check out freshmen cornerbacks Cornelius Collier, Jr. (6-1, 170), Jason Marshall (6-2, 175), and athlete Brashard Smith (5-8, 160)
