Southwest Miami-Dade County: Class of 2024 Top 25 List
By Jerry Williamson
After factoring academics, consistency, overall dominance and strength of competition. The number 1 and 2 overall player rankings may catch a number of people by surprise. Well, so was last year sixth-grade rankings which consisted of unpopularity studs Stanquan Clark and Amen Mackey, who proven their placement among the class-of-2023. Daylen Russell, a Rising Star product, of KBG (11U) is a man among boys. Russel is a freak of nature. Who currently stands 5-foot-11, 180 pounds with the athleticism to play multiple skill positions. He's a game changer without the ball in his hands. He reminds me of another Amen Mackey within the trenches. Inside of the classroom, the physical specimen sports all A and B's. I been raving about this kid since the jamboree of last season. Running back/linebacker Demetrius "Meatball" Williams of the Florida City Razorbacks (Jr. Varsity) is one of the best kept secrets in the south, when you take a close look at his game, level of competition and his age. The youngster, who plays two levels above his age group, didn't look out of place this past fall. Meatball, a physical north-south runner, scored and delivered bone crushing hits against notable competition. Florida City Razorbacks athlete Rashard Snow and jack-of-all-trades Shemar Irvin of Kendall Boys & Girls Club are both No. 1 talent for their class. But, upper competition and bigger prospects gave Demetrius "Meatball" Williams and Daylen Russell the edge. Snow and Irvin is without a doubt, the most dynamic and gifted offensive prospects stationed in the Southwest Miami-Dade County Region. Another intriguing prospect is Tamiami Kolts all-around athlete Jakhai Rainey. He's versatile, long and rangy, and one of the best gifted unrecognized kids in South Florida. He's someone I named late in the season as a Rising Star. I feel his home is going to be in the secondary. Rounding off the list is Goulds Rams' linebacker, Corey Waters and cornerback Prince Young, who I feel is clear No. 1's at their position.
