Fast Rising Offensive Lineman Jonathan Denis
By Jerry Williamson While nationally recognized recruits, Tyrique Stevenson and Frank Ladson, Jr. receives the bulk of the recruiting attention at South Dade High School. The Bucs' has another near future nationally ranking prospect in the making, with sophomore offensive lineman Jonathan Denis, who stands 6-foot-3, 290 pounds -- with the versatility to play either tackle, guard or center at the next level. Denis holds early verbal offers from UK, Southern Miss, FAU, and Valdosta St. Denis, a 16-year-of-old, who wears a size 16 shoe, has already reached the 1,000 pound club milestone, inside the weight room. He's a strong, productive, and durable pancaking machine. Denis, has started every game on varsity, dating back since his eighth-grade season, as the starting left tackle at Keys Gate Charter (dropped football program).
Denis informed Rising Stars, that he's receiving strong interest by mail from power five schools, LSU and Arkansas. Denis, has countless invites from notable camps such as, Rivals Camp, Miami Nike Opening, and Under Armour All-American Football Camp. The massive and athletic lineman, can move for a big man. His recent forty-yard dash, consisted of consecutive 5.0 hand timed forty-yard dashes at Larry Blustein's Combine. Another impressive number for college coaches, is his 3.1 unweighted GPA -- along with his eye-catching 40 career pancakes as a sophomore.
Strength in competition isn't a knock against this particular recrui. Denis regularly, challenged teammate and University of Miami (FL) commit, Patrick Joyner. His district play, consisted of Miami Southridge sack masters, James Head (Indiana signee) and Randy Charlton (UCF signee). Denis has been recognized as a complete and well-rounded student-athlete, voted by coaches as the Most Improved Player as an 8th grader, and the Knight Award, which highlights student-athlete, that displays academic achievement and good samaritan. Denis is also a Rising Stars product, I spotlighted as an eighth-grader for head coach Charles Rackley Middle School football team at Keys Gate Charter.
