By Jerry Williamson
The Lions' massive offensive tackle Jovens Janvier, a 6-foot-5, 350 pounder, who's only a sophomore and sports a 3.0 weighted GPA -- has quickly and quietly emerged as one the premier offensive tackles in the state of Florida, and perhaps the country. Janiver, possesses over 1,000 pounds (bench, squat, power clean) of strength, is the Lions' strongest returning starter. The massive lineman has started every game on varsity, since his freshman season. And has heavily contributed to an array of ball carriers -- that have all benefited from Janiver presence, rushing for well over 400 yards the past two seasons. Janiver has dominated, notable competition that ranges beyond the 2A classification. The first-team all-State and all-county selection, was responsible for approximately seven pancakes against the No. 1 program in Kentucky, Trinity HS and has yet, to allow a sack in the class 2A finals the past two trips.
If you need additional convincing the rising sophomore made his presence known at the Miami Nike Camp. Janiver during 1-on-1's battles, went (3-0) against IMG Academy's and University of Miami (FL) defensive end Tre'von Riggins. Janiver, who holds verbal scholarships by the likes of FIU, Bowling Green, Jackson St, and Howard -- prides himself as the anchor of the offensive line, who has delivered over forty pancakes this past season and earning All-State honors consective seasons. Four additional notable programs, have come into the picture, consisting of UF, FSU, UNC, and Purdue -- may eventually offer, the third year football player.
Champagnat Catholic has either signed or currently has a number of student-athletes in the SEC, ACC, BIG TEN, and ACC college football conferences. The big fella, is quietly athletic for a 350 pounder. Did you know? Janiver was a three sport athlete. Janiver, a starting center on the basketball team, averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds per game as well as multiple top 10 showings, as a first year shotput athlete in Track and Field. Janiver singles out offensive coordinator George Stubbs, and offensive line coach Eduardo Barnes, for his early success after three years of playing organized football.
