Recruiting Steal: American Heritage (FL) SS/LB Kamryn Giles
By Jerry Williamson
American Heritage Plantation (FL) SS/LB Kamryn Giles (5-10, 195) is arguably the most underrated prospect in South Florida. I know the word "Underrated" is overly used by prospects, but Giles certainly fits the bill. He's a young man that will play division one football at the next level, as he awaits his first official verbal. Giles doesn't have the ideal height for a safety, standing 5-foot-10 when you consider college football programs prefer a six foot or taller prospect at the position.
But, Giles makes up for it with instincts, athleticism, and having the ability to separate the ball from opposing teams. Giles, is an outstanding run-stopper who has delivered (9) career force fumbles, (5) sacks, and (306) career tackles.
The three-year varsity starter, who sports an astounding 3.5 unweighted GPA (ACT taken on March 10) and has started every single varsity game -- dating back to his freshman season at Monsignor Pace. For two consecutive seasons, the unheralded stud -- led the Spartans' both solo tackles and force fumbles.
Giles not only can cause turnovers. He's a warrior and is a sneaky athletic prospect. At the recent Miami Nike Opening despite nursing the pain of a foot sprain, Giles testing numbers were jaw dropping.
Giles averaged a 95 rating which consisted of the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, peak power, agility, and power ball. Mind you he wasn't 100 percent, which displays his off the charts athleticism. Giles finished as the No. 4 overall prospect, with a 109.89 overall rating (pictured above). Giles is still awaiting his first official scholarship. But, he informed me college football programs such as Toledo, Kentucky, FAU, Rutgers, Tulane, NIU, and South Dakota State are all showing interest.
The unsung star is also versatile. This past fall, Giles was used at several positions. The class 5A state champion lined up at outside linebacker, strong safety, special teams, and was even asked to play primarily man coverage in certain games. Against Cardinal Gibbons, Giles was responsible for 11 Tackles, 2 TFL, 2 PBU, and 1 sack.
I personally can co-sign this young man character. You (college football coaches) will never have to worry about him being uncoachable nor how he carry himself away from football.
You're recruiting a well rounded young man with power five conference athleticism. Giles is a recruiting steal for the class of 2019.
