Senior Sleeper: Miami Southridge (FL) LB/DL Marvin Strong

By Jerry Williamson

Marvin Strong | LB/DL | Miami Southridge | GPA: 3.0 | SAT TEST SCORE: 1330 The Spartans football roster holds an intriguing athlete who lacks the prototype size standing at 6-feet, 200 pounds, but his mixture of versatility and stats along with film at strong safety, linebacker, and defensive line is going to catch someone attention.

This past fall, Strong made an immediate impact by accounting for 14 sacks, 4 force fumbles, and 1 defensive touchdown. Strong was responsible for 6 tackles and 2 sacks this spring vs. Coral Gables. Strong is argubably one of the strongest football players in the state of Florida. Inside of the weight room, the rising senior has been crowned the strongest Spartan for two consecutive years, which speaks volumes coming from a FBS and power five conference feeder. His max numbers consist of the following 385 (bench), 455 (squat), and 495 (dead lift). College football coaches you are probably wondering okay, can the young man run and play in space. I personally watched this young man against three-star athlete Cornelius Nunn, Jr., during the fastest man challenging finale, lose by a step or two this off-season. Strong helped his Spartans win the University of Miami (FL) 7v7 football camp at linebacker, which is challenging playing zone and man coverage against the finest athletes in the country.

Strong capped off his junior season without strong. The rising senior ranked #4 in South Florida in quarterback sacks and #1 in force fumbles. The Spartans in my opinion has a mid-major steal that can make an impact at strong safely or outside linebacker at the next level. Strong is still waiting on his first official offer.
