Chosen Ones remains undefeated after 40-0 trouncing over Palmetto Bay Broncos

By Jerry Williamson This past weekend at Bel Aire Park the chosen ones, a 3-time Sean Taylor Classic champion, triumphed cross-town defending Div. 2 champions Palmetto Bay Broncos in a lopsided 40-0 victory. The Chosen Ones stingy defense following a 30-0 victory flexed their muscles yet again, by scoring two touchdowns and not allowing a single first down or completion the entire game. The unsung stars of the game were the chosen ones offensive line Jamie Freeney, Ty'reak Williams, Prince Smith, Stephen Verdell, Lammarri Simmons, and Corey Orr. The group paved the way for over 200 yards rushing and zero sacks allow. All-around athlete Kamari "Green shoes" Morrison of the chosen ones found the end zone in all three phases of the game and teammate J'Vonn Toney, a bruiser with home-run speed contributed two additional touchdowns on the ground. The game's first touchdown would come from none other than Kamari "Green shoes" Morrison, who would field a punt at the 47-yard line and take it the distance. Apart from, Tadarius "Poppa" Hughes pick six at free safety during the first quarter, the chosen ones secondary had a quiet day, thanks to the relentless pressure of the chosen ones rotating front seven. The lighting delay was the only thing that could slow down the chosen ones from making big plays. Linebackers Dylan Gil, Javier Moss, and Delvares Williams of the chosen ones stuffed the run and took excellent pursuit angles on the Broncos option plays. The Broncos stand out was punter Tom Barcinas who averaged 20-yards per punt along with an impressive hang time. Barcinas could very well be the top specialist at the Jr. Pee Wee division. During the fourth quarter despite the mercy rule, the offensive line still opened up running lanes inside the tackles. Chosen ones running back J'Vonn Toney, would explode through the four hole and make several defenders miss and separate from everyone sprinting for a 63-yard score. Toney can run over you or pass you. The final blow would come late in the second half, as the chosen ones outside linebacker Delvares Williams would read the quarterback eyes and jump the route, resulting in a 42-yard pick six. WHAT DID WE LEARN The chosen ones is a stacked team with playmakers that can make plays any given week. WHAT GAME TO LOOK FORWARD TO Unfortunately, the showdown between Goulds Rams and the chosen ones will take place week 7. Many believe the winner will advance to regionals. ARE THE CHOSEN ONES TOO YOUNG Besides the Money Team, it has been extremely difficult to win at Jr. Pee Wee division without a bundle of older but lighters. But, this is why you play the game. The following season the chosen ones defeated the Liberty City Warriors, not once, but twice when many felt their run was over. Can history repeat itself? Only time will tell.
