High School Week 3 Top Freshman Performers: Jai-ayviauynn Celestine and Jayvon Only lead the pack

By Jerry Williamson Here are the top freshman performers from Week 3 of high school football in Miami Metropolitan area.  OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ATH, Jai-Ayviauynn Celestine | Hialeah The freshman phenom continues to shine under the lights. For the second time this season. Against crosstown rivals Hialeah Miami-Lakes, Celestine averaged a stunning 20.7 yards per touch on just seven attempts. Celestine scored two touchdowns (rushing & kick return) and recorded a 145 all-purpose yards. He may stand 5-foot-8, but his game equals a 4 or 5 star. This kid loves competition.  DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

LB/SS, Jayvon Only | Southwest Miami After leading his class 3A varsity team in solo tackles as an eighth grader, Only now a class 8A product for the eagles made a splash week 3 vs. Miami High. Only, a hybrid linebacker and strong safety, was named the defensive player of the week in South Florida after tallying 5 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 sacks (9yards), 2 QB Hurries, & safety. Only is a young man I ranked as the preseason No. 1 overall prospect and linebacker in the Southwest Miami-Dade County region the past season.  8th GRADE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ATH, Brandon Inniss | University School 

Athlete Brandon Inniss of University School has a chance to become Broward County's first-team all-county selection as an eighth-grader since American Heritage Plantation running back Sony Michel. Inniss pulled in 3 passes for 56 yards and 1 touchdown; added a kick off return for 24 yards totally 80 all-purpose yards and one score. 

WR, De'carlo Donaldson | Hialeah This past weekend performance versus Hialeah Miami-Lakes marked his second single game of recording over 100-yards receiving and a score. Donaldson, standing 6-foot-2, 188lbs, caught seven passes for 101 yards and 1 touchdown. Donaldson is someone who has the frame, film, and stats to become a freshman Maxpreps All-American.  RB, Tyrone Maxwell | Miami Palmetto The panthers continue to attract the finest youth football players within the area. Maxwell scored his second touchdown of the season against Ferguson.  OG, Patrick Atkins | South Dade South Dade future star starting offensive guard Patrick Atkins contributed to perhaps the upset of the week, as the bucs defeated the defending class 6A state champions Miami Northwestern. As an seventh-grader, Atkins was ranked as my No. 1 overall offensive lineman in the Southwest Miami-Dade County region. DB, Dedrick Browder | Somerset Silver Palms Browder, a 3A product has big time potential after covering him this off-season for Florida Fire and at the Pop Warner ranks for the Richmond-Perrine Giants. The hybrid safety/nickle caused his second high school career force fumble this past weekend. Browder was responsible for 5 tackles, 1 force fumble and 3 PD.  DE/DT, Francois Nolton Jr. | Miami Christian This past weekend against Palm Glades Prep the up-and-coming star recorded 5 tackles and 3 TFL. Nolton Jr. certainly passes the eye-ball test standing at 6-foot-4, 226 pounds who previously earned defensive player of the week. OL/DL, Aham Brown | Everglades Prep Against well-respected University School the youngster, who's an seventh-grader recorded two tackles and held his own against a talented defensive front. OT, Jacob Juedy | Miami Palmetto The panthers young and upcoming talent, started at right tackle and held his own against upperclassman.  OG, Brandon Brana & OT, Justin Neyra | Gulliver Prep The Raiders' future at offensive line appears promising with freshman Ray Brana and Justin Neyra after reviewing their film vs. North Broward Prep. The duo created both running and passing lanes and played until the whistle. 

PK, Will Bettridge | Gulliver Prep

The kicker to beat in South Florida at the moment is none other than Gulliver Prep place kicker Will Bettridge. Bettridge went 6-for-6 on extra points this past week vs. North Broward Prep. 

QB, Carson Haggard | Gulliver Prep

Haggard threw for 94-yards and one touchdown, while going 4-for-7, against North Broward Prep.
