Patterson (ATH) and Smith (RB) named Freshman of the Week

Rising Stars has extended the coverage beyond the Miami Metropolitan area and now, will cover the finest freshman each week throughout the state of Florida. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

St. Brendan (FLA.) 22' RB - Leonard Smith

Note: The sabres, a first-year football program located in Miami, FLA., freshman running back Leanard Smith was named Rising Stars Freshman of the Week for the first time this season after his performance against Florida Christian this past weekend. Smith helped his team improve to a (2-2) record as he rushed for 112 yards on 25 carries along with 2 rushing touchdowns. DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Liberty (FLA.) 22' CB/WR Lamar Patterson

Note: Recorded 3 tackles, 2 force fumbles and hauled in four receptions for 50-yards. Patterson has started every game this season and was named the Future Stars Game (Florida vs. Georgia) offensive MVP as an eighth grader. Somerset Silver Palms (FLA.) 22' WR/CB Maurice Smith 

Note: The impressive looking athlete that stands (6-0, 170) caught 6 passes for 98 yards receiving vs Lasalle. • LaSalle (FLA.) 22' ATH Jude Servius Note: Servius totalled 58 yards, 1 TD, and 4 solo tackles vs. Somerset Silver Palms • Everglades (FLA.) 22' RB Kareem Carswell

Note: Rushed for 126 yards on six carries vs. South Broward.

8TH GRADE: VARSITY PLAYER OF THE WEEK University School (FLA.) 23' ATH Brandon Inniss

Note: The future phenom has amassed 171 all-purpose yards and two scores the past two weeks. At wide receiver he has pulled in five passes for 102 receiving yards and one touchdown and returned a  pick six on defense. Somerset Silver Palms (FLA.) 22' Dedrick Browder

Note: The falcons hard-hitting safety caused his third force fumble of the season vs. LaSalle. Browder recorded 5 solo tackles and one force fumble. Gulliver Prep (FLA.) 22' PK Will Bettridge

Note: Bettridge, argubably the top place kicker in South Florida, went 3-for-3 on extra points and kicked 2 touchbacks vs. Calvary Christian. Florida Christian (FLA.) 23' ATH Antonio Robinson

Note: The 8th grade two-way varsity standout has 15 catches for 205 yards and 1 interception (returned 30-yards) on the season. On defense he has 8 solo tackles and two dropped interceptions. Everglades (FLA.) 22' WR Jayden Thomas

Note: Against South Plantation he caught four passes for 52-yards. 

Gulliver Prep (FLA.) 22' QB Carson Haggard

Note: In his first varsity start, Carson did an excellent job as a game manager as he completed 4-for-7 passes and threw for 90-yards. 

Everglades (FLA.) 22' DB Alfonzo Allen

Note: Recorded 12 solo tackles

• Chaminade-Modonna (FLA.) 22' CB Ryan Turner 

Note: The youngster held his own against the defending class state champions American Heritage Plantation. 

• Deerfield Beach (FLA.) 22' OL Aaron Hicks 

Hicks, who stands 6-foot-3, 270-pounds, helped the No. 1 ranked 8A program in the state according to HSFootball gain over 500 yards total on offense. 

• Everglades (FLA.) 22' WR Anthony Rose

Note: The notable youth football athlete from the Florida Youth Football League that played for the Foreign Boyz, caught 3 passes for 85 yards.
