The Chosen Ones' Morrison, Jones, and Gill helps upset Supreme 6-0

By Jerry Williamson GOULDS — The drought is officially over and the smoke was finally cleared this past weekend at Goulds Park, as the unbeaten and highly favored Goulds Rams better known as the Supreme Team was stunned at their homecoming as the Chosen Ones did what no other team has done this season, which is win and held an offense scoreless that has averaged roughly 24-points per game during the regular season. FIRST QUARTER The first 8-minutes of the game consisted of primarily running plays as only two passes were completed. Those two receptions came from the hands of Jerome Pendagrass (Chosen Ones) a 15-yard reception and the Supreme Team Cameron Sapp 14-yard grab, which were both the longest plays by both teams. Both defenses performed as advertised. The Supreme Team linebacker Wilson Smith led in stops followed by defensive lineman Jamarcus Vega. The Chosen Ones defensive tackle Terrell Jones and linebacker Dylan Gill led defensively. Quarterback Kymani Corbett recorded 36 all-purpose yards as he threw for 15 yards and rushed for twenty-one yards on the ground. SECOND QUARTER The Chosen Ones simple quarterback sneak during the first quarter became the ultimate solution for victory. After seven quarterback sneaks in-a-row and four first downs later, the Chosen Ones was inside the Supreme Team red zone as Kymani Corbett and Tadarius "Poppa" Hughes (24 rushing on the drive) alternated at quarterback. RED ZONE ALERT (Chosen Ones) The first pass of the drive would be costly, as free safety Darriel "Big Man" Harper would read the eyes of Tadarius "Poppa" Hughes and return the interception for nearly 15-yards. THE FUMBLE On 4th down the Supreme Team received a blessing as the Chosen Ones punt return specialist Kamari "Green Shoes" Morrison would fumble at midfield and Dion Johnson of the Supreme Team would quickly secured the fumble. With less than 2-minutes remaining in the 2nd quarter the Supreme Team all-around athlete Darriel "Big Man" Harper did a remarkable job moving the chains (meaning first downs) as he recorded 37 all-purpose yards on five attempts along with quarterback Jose Lopez 11-yard scamper. RED ZONE ALERT (Supreme Team) With time not on their side their offensive coordinator went to his 5-wide formation and signal-in a great call on the first play. Somehow wide receiver Samuel Coleman slipped behind the Chosen Ones secondary and dropped a touchdown thrown perfectly by quarterback Jose Lopez. On the ensuing play defensive coordinator Artur Allen would call a timeout. The next two plays afterward would-be incompletions and arguably the play of the game would come on the next play. Defensive back Kamari "Green Shoes" Morrison would make-up for his miscue on special teams by high-pointing an interception and returning it 92-yards to the house (meaning touchdown) as he displayed amazing top-end speed erupting the crowd in joy. The extra point was unsuccessful. The Chosen Ones cornerback Deon Jones was without question the co-defensive MVP of the game. Jones made three open field tackles that could've easily resulted in touchdowns. Defensive end Deandre Ward and linebacker Javier Moss dominated the second quarter defensively followed by linebacker Dylan Gill.

Defensively, the Supreme Team was led by Kavion Lattimore and Courtney Comer. 3RD QUARTER The Chosen Ones held the Supreme Team offense to under 30 total yards. Their longest offensive play came from the hands of all-around athlete Darriel "Big Man" Harper for seven yards. The quarterback sneak would continue to control the clock as Kymani Corbett and Tadarius "Poppa" Hughes combineded for 36 yards on nine attempts. The defensive standouts were mainly defensive lineman consisting of Chosen Ones Kellon Durham and Jamie Freeney. The Supreme Team Joshua Ford, Matthew Brand, and Malik Penson stood out defensively.

Pictured: Chosen Ones LB Dylan Gill 4TH QUARTER In the 4th quarter middle linebacker Dylan Gill would record an eye-catching 9 solo tackles. Supreme Team offense would produce three first downs, one by Marquis Williams and two from Darriel "Big Man" Harper (15-yard catch and 11-yard run). RED ZONE ALERT (Supreme Team) With less than a minute remaining during the 4th quarter Goulds would have four plays inside the Chosen Ones 10-yard line. First, play tackle for a loss by Dylan Gill. Second, play tackle for a loss by Dylan Gill. Third, play tackle for a loss by Dylan Gill. On 4th down the pass would fall short as Kamari "Green Shoes" Morrison was targeted. UNSUNG STAR The unsung star of the game was none other than offensive center Ty'reak Williams. His efforts turned a simple quarterback sneak into the ultimate gameplan of defeating the Supreme Team. The Chosen Ones coaching staff did an excellent job adjusting and not doing anything fancy. I noticed on 4th downs they didn't punt the ball to the Supreme Team most dynamic athlete, which was very smart. The outcome of this event has both the Overtown Tornadoes and Florida City Razorbacks 115lbs. feeling extremely confident heading into the playoffs.
