Ready To Take Flight: Six Rising Prospects from the class of 2021 with Star Potential
By Jerry Williamson
When it comes to high school football recruiting in South Florida, the talent pool is endless. You can visit one off-season and circle back, and there's a new star born. This list of names in this article aren't on many recruiting boards, but they're all talented and will make a splash this fall. My first stop will be at the defending FHSAA Class 6A state champions Miami Northwestern. Based on film, Kareem Roberts (6'0", 215) of the Bulls. His ability to fight off bigger linemen and find the ball carrier is impressive. Roberts film displays multiple reps of delivering big hits and quarterbacks. He played a larger portion at defensive tackle based on film, but playing linebacker will be his ticket at the next level. He's someone I can easily see, collecting double digit sacks this season. On offense, Hialeah quarterback Jaylon Tolbert, a transfer from Cypress Bay, has the writing on the wall to put up monster statistics this fall. The dual threat, who sports a 4.27 GPA has the arm talent, decision-making ability, and foot speed to keep defensive coordinators honest. It also helps having a dynamic and physical supporting cast consisting of running back D'shawn Trowers and athletes De'Carlo Donaldson and Jai-Ayviauynn Celestine. Visiting Miami Central is a one-stop-shop when it comes to recruiting both the known and unknown talent. Here's a name to circle next time you visit the Rockets, Rhoody Jean Louis. He's going to emerge this upcoming season in my opinion. He stands 6-foot-2, 210 pounds that closes lanes quickly and makes his presence known when bringing down ball carriers. He's a division one prospect in waiting. The interception leader of the list, is none other than cornerback Tredarius Williams (5'10", 140) from Palm Glades. In 2018, the undiscovered lightly built prospect, rendered five interceptions on the season and came out of nowhere. He will need to spend more time in the weight room and get bigger, but his man-to-man coverage and run support is worth recognition college football coaches. Miami High cornerback Antonio McFadden caught several interceptions last season and based on film, he's well-rounded. McFadden can play man press, zone coverage, and does a phenomenal job in tackling and laying the wood. He's a major sleeper at cornerback for the class of 2021. McFadden is the next division one prospect in waiting at Miami High. It was brought to my attention he's the best defensive player on the Stingarees' defense and based on film study, it's hard to make an argument regarding that statement. South Dade offensive line s already loaded with household names and their transfer from Miami Central, Kwami McNair who stands 6-foot-1 and weighing 275 pounds at center just upgraded an already impressive group. Miami Central and South Dade breeds offensive lineman, and to start at Miami Central as a sophomore tells you a lot of his talent and toughness. McNair recorded multiple pancakes and consistently, opened gaping running lanes.
