Week 2: Freshmen of the Week, Miller explodes with 231 rushing yards

By Jerry Williamson

Last week, was a national headline performance for ball carrier Levy "LA" Miller from Florida Christian School. I feel, he's next in-line as a small school talent, with D1-FBS talent, sort of like Belen Jesuit Preparatory running back Don Chaney Jr. Below are the top freshmen in South Florida for week 2 St. Brendan High School defeated Northwest Christian 60-0 last week. Half of those points came from two freshmen named Ryan Bullard and Christian Lowry, two playmakers from the Florida City Razorbacks and Overtown Tornadoes from Miami Pop Warner. Bullard is having a phenomenal start to his high school career, after three consecutive features as freshmen of the week. Bullard ran for 100-yards on seven attempts and 2 touchdowns. He also touched the ball twice on special teams, for 62-yards and one touchdown.

St. Brendan coaching staff, shocked many people by adding former Overtown Tornadoes cornerback Christian Lowry, who played for winning squad that was recognized as the Money Team. Lowery, is certainly, helping his second year football program win games (undefeated) and on the gridiron, he's money statically. Lowery, recorded 2 interceptions on defense and 5 solo tackles. On offense, he added to his stats with 2 receptions for 26 yards and 1 touchdown. His teammate, Micheal Caldwell also made a splash -- with 126 total yards and 1 touchdown.

Ferguson High School freshman quarterback Tristan Caroddo (far left pictured), caught my attention after completing 12-for-16 passes and throwing for 203-yards and one touchdown pass versus Hialeah Gardens.

Florida Christian freshman running back Levy "LA" Miller (5'9, 160) is on track to rush for well over 1,000-yards, after a storied Pop Warner career, which consisted of back-to-back Div. 1 national championships (2017 & 2018) for the Palmetto Raiders. Miller rushed for approximately, 231-yards and 2 scores (8, 54). On one drive, Miller was responsible for 64-yards and finished, the game in style, averaging 13.5 yards per touch after 17 rushing attempts versus Coral Shores.

University School freshman athlete Brandon Inniss, continues to shine and crunch time moments. When the Sharks needed a big-time play, Inniss lined-up at wildcat quarterback, and raced 52-yards for a touchdown. At wide receiver, Inniss caught 2 passes for 41-yards and contributed on the defensive side of the ball, by recording 4 tackles and 2 pass deflections on defense.

Gulliver Prep freshman running back Sedrick Irvin -- put on a great performance at home vs. Belen Jesuit Preparatory. Irvin does a great job, running behind his pads. I observed the scholar (honor roll student) explode on back-to-back 15-yard runs and finish his runs. Irvin took full advantage of everyone of his touches, as he compiled 100-yards and one touchdown. Irvin, teammate, Jalen Brown, a talented freshman wide receiver -- caught three passes for 100 yards vs. Belen Jesuit Preparatory.

Offensive lineman of the week goes to unsung star, offensive guard Sam Lopez from Florida Christian School. After reviewing film, he in fact, was responsible for 10 pancake blocks and played a tremendous role of helping his offense compile over 300 yards running behind him 95% of the time based off film. His lower body is powerful, thanks to his intense football practices. Which consist of 500 forward lunges and side lunges.

Gulliver Prep freshman cornerback Antonio Smith is going to be a dozen plus D1-offer recruit, all said-and-done. He's already 6-foot-2 with long arms, and starts on varsity. Smith displayed his vertical ability, and ball awareness, when he located the ball in coverage, and made a "turnover chain" type of play, with an impressive interception. He held his own the entire day in coverage.

Dade Christian freshman offensive center Jerome Bohler (6'0, 310) delivered a memorable game by recording 2 1/2 sacks and seven tackles as well as multiple pancakes versus Key West High School.

Florida Christian cornerback Antonio Robinson Jr. is reminded everyday, the true meaning of hard work and faith. As his father, Antonio Robinson Sr., a former junior college product, that later won the Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers, back in 2011. Antonio Robinson Jr., is locking down everyone he has challenge this season. Robinson recorded over 80 total yards (starts on offense at quarterback) and one touchdown and didn't allow a single reception. University of Florida and Tennessee, just to name a few D1-FBS schools, have already offered verbal offers.

American heritage Plantation freshman linebacker David Vadala is back again on the list, recognized as one of the freshmen of the week. His 10 tackles was against powerhouse Gonzaga College High School. Vadala is currently, in the driving seat at linebacker in South Florida for his recruiting class.

Florida Christian middle linebacker Steven Jackson accounted for 6 solo tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 3 asst tackles, 1 deflected pass, and 1 QB hurry. Next in-line is Doral Academy Charter linebacker Rolando Diaz. The Firebirds defensive standout racked up 7 tackles, a forced fumble and one interception.
