Freshmen of the Week: Patriots RB Levy "LA" Miller and Lamont Green Jr. of Southwest Miami

Each week in South Florida, it's an enormous challenge for freshmen -- to continue performing beyond their ages, as coordinators are now beginning to game plan, and respect the youthful impact on the varsity level. OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Running back Levy "LA" Miller from Florida Christian is on track to become first-team All-Dade County. Miller has recorded 596 yards and 6 scores on the season. He set another single game record, with 260 all-purpose yards this past week and 3 touchdowns. DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Southwest Miami hybrid linebacker/defensive end Lamont Green Jr., is thriving this season on varsity, after experiencing a crash course this past off-season -- challenging older and bigger linemen at football camps. He blocked both a field goal and punt, as well as recording double digit tackles and several sacks. Below are the Freshmen of the week Florida Christian, RB, Levy "LA" Miller

Note: Miller is having a monster freshman season with six rushing touchdowns and over 500 all-purpose yards. On Friday, Miller picked up where we left off at, breaking on the first play of the game, racing for a 67-touchdown. Miller would then take a screen the distance, for a 80-yard touchdown. When the clock hit zero, Miller generated 263 all purpose yards (183 rushing/80 receiving) and 3 touchdowns. Carol City, QB, Kewone Jenkins

Note: The future looks bright at the signal caller position for the class of 2023. Jenkins is going to break a number of records at Carol City. Last week, he certainly, didn't appear a freshman. Jenkins went 18-for-22 for 251 passing yards and one touchdown (0 interceptions).

Miami Christian, WR, Nathaniel "Ray Ray" Joseph

Note: This past Friday, the second year varsity starter for the Victors, complied roughly 150 all-purpose yards and one receiving touchdown versus the back-to-back Class 3A State Champions, Chaminade-Madonna. Ray Ray has a bright future. Champagnat Catholic, WR, Kelvin Blount

Note: Keep an eye on this freshman. When the Lions needed big plays, the youngster answered. Blount pulled in five passes for 125 yards on the road, making his name known in the state of Tennessee. The Lions continues to wide valuable wide receivers. St. Brendan, ATH, Micheal Caldwell

Note: St. Brendan fans didn’t have much to cheer about against Somerset Silver Palms, but the freshman athlete gave them hope for the future, showing flashes of elite skill on Saturday. Caldwell ran for 131 yards and one score. Coral Reef, RB, Jason Demetrius

Note: Mater Academy Charter experienced, the coming out party of Barracudas freshman running back Jason Demetrius. He score 2 touchdowns and took one for a 97 yard touchdown on a kick return. Demetrius complied over 130 yards of all-purpose yards. McArthur, OL, Elvin harris

Note: After tallying three packages two weeks ago, Harris is back with the same results. Against University School, he generated three pancake blocks and helped his team defeat the Sharks 19-0. Southwest Miami, DE, Lamont Green Jr.

Note: The face of South Florida, at defensive end is none other than Lamont Green Jr. This kid continues to sack opposing teams quarterback or cause hurries each week. It's safe to say, the edge rusher recorded 12 tackles. 2 sacks, 2 tackles for Loss, 1 batted Ball, 3 Qb pressures, Blocked Fg and a Blocked Punt. Green earns week 3 Rising Stars defensive player of the week. St. Brendan, DL, Andrevis Grant

Note: Grant is one of the new comers on the freshmen of the week list. His performance against Somerset Silver Palms turn heads on Saturday, at Tropical Park. Grant was responsible for 8 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 forced fumble. Northwest Christian, DT, Tehari Singleton

Note: Defensive tackle Tehari Singleton (6'0, 290) is an unsung talent, that started as an eighth-grader on varsity at Mater Academy, where he recorded 36 stops, 12 TFL, 2 forced fumbles, and 1 fumble recovery. This past week vs. Marathon, he generated 12 tackles and 2 tackles for loss. Coral Reef, DB, Zaiver Williams

Note: You're looking at the co-leader in interceptions for the class of 2023 in Miami-Dade County. For the second time this season, Williams picked off two passes in a single game. He also recorded 4 tackles and one touchdown. American Heritage Plantation, LB, David Vadala

Note: Broward County is the home to arguably, the best overall freshman this season on varsity. Vadala is a tackling machine with video evidence, to support his statistics. This week, he generated 11 tackles and 3 TFL. He's certainly, on pace to secure his first-team All-South Florida Freshman Team selection. Florida Christian, ATH, Antonio Robinson Jr.

Note: Last season, Robinson Jr. started as an eighth grader on varsity, and recorded 2 interceptions. This season, the rising freshman, who holds three SEC offers (University of Florida, University of Tennessee, and University of South Carolina) has already matched his single season interception high with two picks (including one dropped int). Robinson threw for 80 yards, rushed for 65 yards, returned a punt 30 yards, caught 1 interception, and a 2 point conversion. Flanagan, CB, Marcus Ellis

Note: Flanagan freshman cornerback Marcus Ellis is another new name to the list. His production earned him a spot, after tallying 8 tackles, 1 kick return for touchdown, and 3 pass deflections. Florida Christian, ATH, Jacari Gavins

Note: Wide receiver/free safety Jacari Gavins recorded one receiving touchdown for 40 yards, 1 interception, and delivered a big hit, causing a forced fumble. I also noticed, he's a kid with good speed. The Best of the Rest Christopher Columbus, DB, Ahmere Foster
